Calories remaining?

How many calories do you usually have remaining???
I am currently have it set for a 1,200 calorie intake a day. However, I am always having at LEAST 500 left over. I've had a few days with 700/800 after workouts.... Is that to much to have left?
I have a hard time eating over that amount, but i want this weight loss to be successful, and a lot of people have told me you can actually gain weight if your not eating enough....

if you go to far under your body will go into starvation mode and you can gain weight from it,
I usualy have maybe 100-300 calories left and sometimes more if I cheated the day before.
I wouldn't worry0 -

So you are netting at MOST 700 calories a day and sometimes only 4-500??
Yes that is too low. You should be looking to NET close to 1200. You should be trying to eat back some of your exercise calories, especially if you have it set to only intake 1200. Trying to sustain a healthy life on only 500 calories a day is going to wear you down. Your body needs more fuel than that.
I find that I do gain weight if I net under 1000 for a few days.
Try adding calorie dense foods like nuts as a snack, they're healthy and pack a lot of calories in a small meal.0 -
That stressed me out in the beginning, but It's been easier to eat more calories since I added strength training. I try to make sure I eat a healthy breakfast and lunch so I don't have too many calories left at the end of the day. If I fall short, I've learned to let them go and not stress over it. It doesn't seem to be a problem, since I don't do it every day. From the beginning, I've tried, not always successfully, to eat a minimum of 1000 calories. The heavy weight lifting seems to be the key for me. It not only makes me hungry, but it burns calories and builds muscles that burn more calories! Best of all, my husband says he can really feel the difference when he runs his hands over my back and hips. I'm getting more hugs just because he like to feel me. :-)0

Thanks everyone. Yea i just rechecked through my diary, and I'm netting VERY low. Only 300 on some days..... So just so I'm correct here I should be netting my 1,200 calories right?? Those are the ones that matter??
This REALLY explains why I have been so exhausted! on the 9th I netted only 269 calories, and just found myself dragginggg yesterday.0 -

Yes, or at least close to it. You can do a search on here for something like "eating exercise calories" for a good read, there's tons of posts on it. Basically it comes down to MFP already sets a deficit based on how much you want to lose and when you log exercise it takes that into account when it tells you your goal for the day.0 -
You eat too little. Increase to about at least 90% from your net. If in 2 weeks you don't lose weight than decrease to 1000 and so on. Starvation and catabolic states are very nasty.0

You're eating way too little
My calorie goal is around 1500 without exercise, 1800 ish after exercise and i usually have about 100 left over at the end of the day, sometimes more, sometimes less but i always eat at least the 1500.0 -
I am glad this was the question!! I have the same issue. The only thing is I have no clue how many calories Zumba or the strenght and stability classes I take burn. I enter the calories I burned on the eliptical, but after that? Does anyone know how many an hour of Zumba is?0
