Ok, like I said in my introduction post, I have a timeframe of about 6 months to lose only around 10 lbs. I'm 22, 5'8", and 137 lbs. I go to the gym everyday and I just started doing strength training along with the cardio I've already been doing. I want to tone up, primarly in my arms, thighs/hips, butt, and of course the stomach/abs. I need some information on what the best exercises are for those areas. Today I did 20 overhead presses, 35 crunches (I haven't done those in so long!), 40 torso rotations, 30 leg extensions, and 30 reps on the abdominal machine. Plus 30 minutes on the bike. Does this sound about right to you guys? Essentially I want a bikini body to blow my husband away when he comes home for R&R from Iraq. My goal for now is a flat, tight stomach. And I have cellulite on the back of my legs :( How do I get rid of that? Will it eventually go away with the cardio and strength training or am I doomed to have it now forever?

I guess I'm kind of clueless when it comes to all of this. I wasn't raised to be active...plus, my family and healthy eating just don't belong in the same sentence. I'm a photographer so the only time I'm active with my job is if I'm shooting...the rest of my time is spent at a computer editing photos. So I'm trying to make up for that with my daily 30 minutes to an hour at the gym, but I'm not sure if that's enough considering I'm not very active in the rest of my daily activities. *sigh* I need information. lol

Okay if you are doing leg extentions you need to do leg curls to build up your quads, other wise you could risk blowing a knee. You want to keep you legs balanced.

When I lift weights I do 3 sets of 15 of each lift. I do extentions and curls for my legs and calf lifts. Hammer curls then tricept presses for my arms. One are rows for my back, and millitary presses for my shoulders. For abs I do plank and leg lifts

Thank you so much for the information. I need to look up some of those exercises because I'm not familiar with them. I definitely appreciate it though. And if you've lost 34 lbs I should probably listen to you because you're doing something right! :)

i have a little of the cellulite issue on the back/upper side of my legs. i notice it ALWAYS improves with walking....i have walked outside, done the Leslie Sansone dvd's and treadmill. i think when you do all the resistance training too, it will help as well. oh, and squats are another good one. what a nice present for your DH, and for you too!
  • I really like Jillian Micheals book Making The Cut. Great workouts. I like to encorporate yoga into my weekly workouts as well.

push ups are great exercises and tricep dips are too.

a great place to look up exercises is youtube then you get to actually watch a person do them.

P90X... Its amazing! Well worth it
  • I would say strength training will definitely tone/define. So use weights, a fitness book will help define all your muscle groups and try to get an even workout on your different groups. I use to alternate upper body one day, lower body the next to give a rest in between. But to each their own!
