The creeping scale....

Today I am feeling extremely frustrated with my diet and exercise program. I am active, working out 4 to 5 times a week. I have been very conscious of my calorie intake, most days only consuming the base 1200 calories per day. I weighed myself today only to find that I've gained. I dont know if my body is not getting enough nutrients so it is starting to store in my food take as fat. I am struggling to lose these last 5 pounds, any suggestions to help me out?

I think you don't eat enough as you say you exercise as well. DO you eat your exercise calories?
  • I am pretty much in your same boat. Only down to the last 6 lbs. I even adapted a low carb diet to try to help myself lose weight faster to no avail.

But it sounds to me like you should increase your calorie intake slowly and it should come off. I've known a lot of people who got down to their goal weight and started maintaining and they lost still! So take it week by week and just add 100 more calories. If you start to lose weight at 1300 then stop there. Then when you hit another plateau, do the same.

On occasion I eat some of my exercise calories, however Ive been trying to stick to the 1200 calories. Yesterday I did some research on active.com and found that for an active person of my age/height/weight should be consuming 2330 calories to maintain. I did increase my calorie intake to almost 1500 yesterday. I will admit, I am a numbers person and I do step on the scale daily. This week I have really been busting my butt with my exercise so I was extremely frustrated to have gained almost a pound this week.
