external abdominal obliques

Hello all would appreciate some advice.
I'm about 135 days into this whole thing and have shifted over 40 lbs, a month or so ago my attention turned towards strength training and fitness rather than the desperate scale watching that got me this far.
Its all going quite well and in my own amateurish way i am progressing in a way i am happy with.
So here's the question, external abdominal obliques, i need some, how do i get them?
Anything i can include in my current routines to focus on them specifically or any general sets i should be doing to include them?
I'm not exactly a giant at 5 7" and have a barrel ribcage, having no external abdominal obliques is even beginning to freak me out a little when i look in the mirror, what the hell is holding me up? it just looks odd.
Thanks in advance.

Core work! I do Insanity and 10 minute trainer, and I can tell you that even with not crunches or sit ups, my core, including side-obliques, are like steel! :-)
A program like Rev-Abs, by Biggest Loser trainer Brett Hoebel, would be super ideal too.0 -

Hiya mate,
I have managed to get mine showning through loads of pulling twists on the cable pully in the gym, it works your core and obliques, I just need to reduce my overall body fat by 5% to get my main abs showing now. This has worked for me.0 -
Cheers for the suggestions guys, some ideas to go on there.0

Obliques show when body fat is low enough. You have them already. To work them, hanging twisting leg lifts alternating sides.
