I watched my friends do one this past summer in Copper Mountain, Colorado. It looked like so much fun!! I'm probably going to sign up to do it next summer myself. I'm not really sure how you would train for it though. It definitely appears to be an intense 5k.

I did it in June in Pennsylvania, and training for it was my entire motivation to get in shape!

I started with doing Couch to 5k (www.c25k.com) to learn to run, and did EA Active Sports 2 on the Playstation with 5# dumbbells. But I think pretty much any workout dvd, like the Jillian Michaels ones, would have the same effect.

If you go to the Warrior Dash website, they have a suggested training schedule. There's a schedule for newbies as well as for Warriors. They suggest beginning to train at least 12 weeks before the Dash.

I hadn't heard about it in time to take part this year, so I'm hoping one comes to TN in 2012. So far, it hasn't been confirmed yet :grumble:

    Good luck!!

I did a Rebel Race in upstate New York. It's soooo fun! Enjoy the race!
  • I did it last june in PA, it was fun I had my friend sign up with me, it's very intense. It's not like jogging around the neighborhood, you really have to put effort into it as you jump over trees and rocks and focus on not slipping on all the mud that is everywhere. I deffinitly wore the wrong shoes as I couldn't get enough tracktion (I wore track shoes, bad idea) Plus you have all the obstacles, the referees won't force you to do all of them, for example I am terriffied of hights so I skipped the 20' vertical wall climb and they didn't say anything. The point is that pretty much you have to encourage yourself to do the obstacles, if you won't push yourself then no one else will. Also invest in underarmor, we had a part of the trail where we had to run up a freezing stream which was waist high and it was really freezing. If you are going to train for this find some local trails you can run that aren't just flat ground you deffinitly want texture in your trail, that way you will be propared for the uneven ground and then also work on uper body strenght it deffinitly helps when you get to the obstacles. And be propared for mud, lots of mud Everywhere. And have fun! :D
