PRAL and kidney stones, gout, inflamation etc

PRAL stands for potential renal acid load.
the idea is that certain foods decrease body fluid ph and make them more acidic. (note this is not the ash based alkai diet which has largely been debunked.) and that this can cause or excaserbate certain health issues like kidney stones, gout, and general body inflamation.
anyway these scientists Remer and Mantz came up with a formula that calculates the potential renal acid load of foods based on mineral and protien content.
I'd like to know if anyone has come accross this before? and particularily if you have gout, kidney stones or other conditions and have tried this. did it have any effect?
