Having reached a weight I am happy with, I am struggling a bit with my lack of goal. It's very hard to work towards nothing.

How do you keep yourself motivated once you are where you want to be? Is there even any point in continual motivation?

  • I would guess a good goal would be to maintain a healthy lifestyle and not gain any weight back.

Not gaining the weight back is good motivation. Keeping off those pounds that you worked so hard to drop, some good motivation.

    Staying healthy and living longer.

look in the mirror and know that if you're happy with what you see, the goal is to keep it happy!

Congratulations! I'm really pleased you have reached your goal weight.

Could you set yourself a sort of buffer zone of, for example, + or - 5lbs and staying within that be your goal, or do you need something with more substance?

You could try building muscle, reducing body fat percentage and so on, but if you are happy with your body now it seems keeping it like that is a good goal.

I hear you. I am a person who needs a goal, something to work for. You could institute some new exercise goals. I am walking from Omaha to Times Square as an exercise goal. Another goal could be to try new, healthy recipes - once a week perhaps. Personally, I am challenged when I don't have goals. I wish you the best and you are in the right place, mfp, for encouragement and you can also provide encouragement having reached your goal.

If you don't make working out and eating right a lifestyle, then you may gain your weight back. You should make "feeling better about having finished a pretty cool workout" your goal.

You could always set fitness goals that have nothing to do with a scale.

Running a 7 minute mile, squatting your body weight, doing a pull-up, earning a black belt or building a cookbook of healthy recipes you love to share with friends.

There's still a lot to do that can keep you busy and healthy.

If you like to cook, you could try out some new healthy recipes. There are plenty online. The new recipe I'm trying today is Carrot Soup. Not usually much of a vegetable eater, I'm trying to find new ways to make them more appealing.
