Jelly, the melatonin DID help me with that. I can get a good 6 hours of solid sleep with it.

Thanks Pedmom, I will give it a try.

I broke my sleeping habits by eating a round meal before bed.
    1) this sets up my insulin level so I can sleep through the night and not have to get up...possibly to pee. right?
    2) include a good slow protein like eggs or casien so you wont burn it off 4 hours in, insulin drops and you get up for a midnight snack...breaking REM where your body is regenerating itself.
    3) go buy a heated blanket and put it over your existing blanket...this works for me.

    Hugs!

I have a hard time falling asleep and staying asleep. If I do fall asleep every hour i'm waking up looking at the alarm clock.
  • I just went to a sleep deprivation seminar yesterday. (It was actually for kids since I work with children and they were talking about how sleep deprivation mimics the symptoms of ADHD). Anyhow, she said that adults need 10 hours of sleep a night (who gets that much sleep?) I have two issues. Sometimes my mind will not shut down and I do like many of you have posted and think of all I have to do the next day etc. She said for this you are to train your brain to focus on only one thing and don't let anything else in. Visualize a boring brown chair or a fireplace crackling. Put all the detail into it you want but don't let any other thoughts in. My second problem is that once I get to sleep I wake up 3-4 times a night in the middle of a dream. I feel like I'm always dreaming. She said this could be a sign of a sleep disorder and that if you don't get into that deep sleep enough you won't be able to put all of the days information in the proper places nor can your body restore all the things it needs during sleep. So who knows. Just passing on the idea that a lot of us are greatly sleep deprived and that sleep studies are being done daily.

She also said your room needs to be dark (no tv, no alarm clocks unless they are red) and no sound unless it is white noise) I'm addicted to sleeping with my tv on which is probably the majority of my issues........

    Happy Sleeping!

I'm a horrible sleeper...I take valerian root, and it'll knock me out for a couple hours but then I'm wide awake at 2 am. My sleep pattern is a mess....I understand where you're coming from!
