Tracking exercise calories + baby

I've been on MFP just shy of a week and LOVE all of the information I've absorbed in the past few days. However, there's something I'm not sure that I'm doing correctly and I haven't been able to find the answer in the site.

I have an infant and all of my walking exercises involve wearing her in a baby carrier or pushing her in a stroller. Is the correct way to count my exercise calories for a 30 minute walk in the stroller this:

"pushing or pulling child in stroller = 30 min" + "walking, moderate speed = 30 min" = total calories burned for 30 minute walk

OR

"pushing or pulling child in stroller = 30 min" = total calories burned for 30 minute walk

So far I've been adding both because you would obviously burn more calories while pushing a stroller, but want to make sure it's right so that I go forward logging my exercise the correct way. Thanks!

I feel like you would only log "pushing or pulling child in stroller" since that seems like it would factor in the walking since you'd have to be walking to push it.

Yeah one or the other. Not both.
  • So that's what I initially thought, but it shows less calories burned for the stroller option than the just walking option... Any insight? I feel like the just walking option would be a better indicator since it offers different speed options (I keep a brisk pace since I have the stroller and walking the dog at the same time.)

Hmmm, Maybe MFP considers pushing a stroller eaiser.. Like how people lean on shopping carts to make it easier to walk? I'm not sure, but I would log one or the other
