Diets I've been on

Just for fun, I thought I'd list all the diets I've been on in the last 10 years:
1. Atkins. (waiters would regularly tell me how unhealthy it was if I asked for a burger without the bun or fries, which I found really helpful). Weight lost: 7 lbs. (gained back after eating strawberries)
2. The carbohydrate addicts diet (where you had to eat no carbs except for 1 hour per day. Very scientiic explanations about insulin levels. In which I ate half a cheesecake on one occasion). Weight lost: 0
3. The Zone Diet: 30% fat 30% carbs 30% protein (this one i actually ordered food and had it delivered daily to my house. Weight lost: 9 lbs
4. I can't remember the name of it diet: (where I could not eat processed carbs, or fruit, but beans were ok. We always had gas)

All of the above took place while working out 5 days a week, and strength training.

5. The random trainer diet (where i had to eat egg whites every 3 hours and could have 1/2 cup oatmeal, a turkey burger, and fish with green veggies.) Weight lost: 15 lbs. Sports injury from being on the ellipical trainer 1 hour/day, (tingling in toes? You'll be fne as long as it goes away! Sure!)

After being disabled:

6) Jenny Craig: Weight lost (15 lbs, then nothing. for 4 months of the same microwaved meals)
7) The Ultra Simple Diet: (Which required cooking purple soup and purchasing $300 of organic groceries) weight lost: 6 lbs
8) Medifast: 36 lbs....and counting.

I'll probably never learn.

WOW. That's a lot of diets.

The only other one I did besides just basic calorie counting was a 3 day fruit only fast just before my senior prom in high school. FYI: Getting the runs in a ballgown is not fun.

i did slimfast once (20 years ago) when i had a very slim fitting dress to get into in just 7 days, it worked, 7lbs in 7 days...that was back when 7 lbs made a difference to how i looked and how the dress looked....wish 7lbs made a difference now. Didnt really need to diet, 5ft7 140lbs...just wanted the dress to look better.

Thats it for "diets", until 3 years ago I easily maintained my weight and then WHOOOOSH Karma for thinking it was so easy I guess

The only diet that has ever worked for my is the "eat real food" diet...

As in eat real whole unprocessed foods and stop expecting there to be an end to said "diet" because it's never going to stop. I had to relearn to eat in a way that I will eat for the rest of my life. If I want a big hunk of cheese or a couple glasses of wine I get those. I reignited my passion for cooking and instead of fatty dinners and desserts I learned to cook REAL FOOD. I don't focus on the things I'm not eating but on the food I do eat and I love it. It didn't cost anything except a little time and determination and it worked... It continues to work. :)

atkins---hated it, and missed too many foods---lost about 30 pounds in 2 months, then i had huge gallbladder attack and decided to not do the whole high fat protein and low card thing...

juicer---yeah, if you could juice it and drink it, it was all good---lost about 15 pounds in 1 month, becasue i lived in my bathroom. lol. then i quit, too many sugar highs and lows... and i missed my cow meat...

extreme low fat---dont really recall losing much, but i do remember there are tons of no to low fat foods out there...but i was mostly consuming processed foods, i knew nothing at the time of processed foods and how they affect the body when consumed in large quantities...

weight watchers---no lose, couldnt last long, too time consuming and expensive...

alli program---50 pounds lost, was actually a very informative program, i still use alot of the information i learned in that program, but again, expensive and i just had too much to lose for it to be helpful to me...

starvation---since i couldnt afford anymore of the fad diet programs, this one was cheap...lol...so the many times i attempted this self prescribed and made up program, i would lose any water weight i had on, in the first couple of days, by drinking only water and peeing constantly...lol...but would always hae too many sugar crashes and alot of fainting spells...

well, in 2010 i was diagnosed with multiple illnesses/conditions/diseases associated with obesity and started on the path i am currently on...

realistic healthy living---i studied and learned how to eat properly, in moderation, and the foods that my body need to function properly...and learned about excercise and how someone so obese could actually do it, and what works best through trial and error...this brought me to what has helped the most...and i lost 40 pounds in 4 months( and have never seen it again)...

    which leads us to...

bariatric nutritionist---aiding me in my path, allowing me to learn first hand about my body and its needs at any given time...lost an additional 48.5 pounds in 8 months(havent even heard from these lost pounds, and thats fine with me)...and then my path ultimately ended up at...

roux-en-y gastric bypass surgery---just another tool to go with the info from my personal research and from my nutritionist...this tool has helped me lose another 75.5 pounds in the last 3 months and 3 weeks...

but honestly, i never really wanted to lose weight for a good reason until i was told that i was diabetic...before then it was just vanity, when it became medical, i got serious!!!

Well in high school I either drank slimfast or starved to maintain my weight. (young and doubt! :noway: Totally messed up my metabolism. I blame my hypoglycemia on these early years.)

Few years ago I did the old weight watchers points. Worked great and got down to about 128. Still like WW but new points system didn't work for me.

Now MFP! And this works great too!

Wow! I did Weight Watchers when I was 16, lost maybe 5 pounds, then got fed up and quit.
Did MFP, counting calories, a couple years ago. Lost 5 pounds, got fed up with slow results (I was at 1lb a week loss, but had too many days going over). I didn't have the right mindset and quit.
Gained back the weight plus more both times.

Now MFP WITH the right mindset, at 2lbs a week loss and PLANNED 'cheat' days. 149 days and 27 pounds lost. :D

I was forced into Atkins in high school. I hated it.
