So I have a cold that won't go away, and my wife finally says go to the doctor. I'm feeling a little guilty about not being out running or exercising, but the lack of oxygen getting through my face to the rest of me is a bit of a problem. But when I got dressed to go, I found that my pants were falling off. I just bought a new belt because the old one had stretched and died - letting my pants always feel like they were going to slip off (all my excess weight is in my gut, not my butt.) The belt can't have died this quickly - I bought something heavy duty. Turns out the belt is fine, it is me that is the problem - I've gotten skinnier and I need to tighten up another notch - NSV #1.

At the doctor's office I'm sitting down and the nurse checks my blood pressure - 110/60, and she looks at me and asks if that is normal for me? For the last several years my BP has been average - 120/80, but before that, when I was exercising, it was lower. Turns out that running 3 or 4 times a week and lifting some weight have had good effects on my heart - NSV #2

Finally, I weighed myself, and I have hit 186 pounds, so that's 19 pounds gone in about a month. Not bad news for a weekend with a head cold and an ear infection.
