Congrats on taking that first step :) advice??? my best advice is to log your foods. I never knew how many calories I was eating till I started logging. It was a real eye opener.

Skinny is so right. Portion control is a huge step in this process.

Congrats on getting started....I quit smoking a year and a half ago ...I remember how hard it was....I'm sure u'll do great...add me as a friend :)
  • Welcome!! And good luck...you can do it! Skinny is right...once you get the portion control down (and give yourself about a month to adjust to the smaller portions), you're on your way! Feel free to add me!
  • Try using smaller plates. Smaller plates make it look like there is more food than there actually is. If you still feel hungry after your first helping, wait 20 mintues. It takes about 20 mintues for your stomache to tell your brain you are full. If your still hungry, drink some water. After a few weeks you will notice that you start to feel full quicker and with smaller portions. I use those little crystal light packets to flavor my water. Each packet contains 10 calories (2 servings per pkt each 5 calories).
