Double Shifts

Hi!
I thought someone would have asked this but I checked the threads and could only find discussions on how people log if they are 3rd shift worker. My question is to anyone who works 16 hour shifts. I work at a psych hospital and have a 16 hour shift on Tuesday and I am finding it impossible to eat healthy while away from home for that many hours. Like most people my job is filled with tons of temptation and last time I worked a double I went way over calories.
Anyone else work doubles and manage their food well? How much food do you bring? Do you plan out and pack for your whole calorie allotment or do you acknowledge you may eat other things and undershoot what you pack?
Thanks for any thoughts

I work 12's every day I work. I try to pre-plan and pre-pack everything. If I get tired, rushed, or too hungry, I won't make good choices.
You also need to examine the effect working 16's may have on your calorie NEEDS. You may actually need more calories if you are active for a longer period. I find that I need more calories when I shift from days to nights, because I don't sleep as much or as well.0 -
As odd as it sounds I don't think I thought about how much more energy i spending working that many hours I will have to account for that!
Thanks for your thoughts0
