So I got my first "injury" today from runnning - my shoulder feels super sore.... Im not sure why... could it be my muscles breaking down from all the running? I used to lift heavy before...

My experience (admittedly just a couple months shy of two years of running) has led me to understand that just about anything bad upper-body that happens from running is going to be related to your form. Check it0

perhaps you need to use your legs and not your arms.....much easier!!! lol
all jokes aside....hope you feel better soon!0 -
Running hurts in different places for different people. And you do use your back/arms more than you think. Think you might be "swinging" a bit much with your arms? Maybe that's a matter of adjusting your running form.
Runner's world has a good article on form http://www.runnersworld.com/article/0,7120,s6-238-267-268-8210-0,00.html

Also, are you talking your shoulder as in where you rotate your arm or your traps right by your neck? I usually have a hard time keeping my traps and neck loose and relaxed; the tension can make your running feel more laborious as well as feel sore afterward.0

This happened to me. It probably has to do with form, as the others said. For me, I tensed my upper body A LOT when I ran. My hands were in fists and my arms way too close to my body, and my shoulders were always high up where my ears were. Plus I was doing everything else wrong too, so that didn't help either. Look up proper running forms and pay attention to how you run next time to compare and check what you're doing.0

I get weird pains like that because I have trouble with my feet. Are your shoes worn? Especially if the heels are worn unevenly, it can cause pain in your legs and back. I would not be surprised if it could affect shoulders too.
Also, are you warming up before and stretching after? I have to do both or I get sore after running.
I hope you feel better!0 -
Or you could be getting tense as you tire - thats what happens to me. Concentrate on relaxing, it might help0
