    180-230 depending on my goals.
  • MFP says I should eat 45g per day, but I try to aim closer to 60-75 grams because I've recently started strength training 4-5 days per week.

    120 - 200 depending on my meal plan. I weigh 118/119 right now. I fluctuate. Trying to maintain my muscle.

    I wonder where this idea of overloading on protein comes from.

    Don't know what you mean by "overloading" on protein. The guys in here eating 170+ are most likely meeting daily needs based on one gram per lb of body weight, which is typical if you want to build muscle.
    I hope this isn't going to veer too off topic, but I've been wondering about this a lot lately myself.

    I'm wondering if anyone can tell me where 1lb per lb bodyweight (or lean body weight) ballpark figure comes from as far as muscle building and maintenance. Empirically speaking, I mean. I'm not saying it is wrong, I'm just wondering what the science behind it is.

    I also understand that there is a thermic effect with protein that isn't present with fats and carbs and I also understand that it is satiating. But I'm just wondering how "protein obsessed" I need to be, for example, if I am looking to lean out a bit. Right now I'm maintaining a moderate deficit, doing resistance work 2-3x/wk, and feel pretty good with about 70g/protein a day (I've got more than 70lbs of muscle). I'm just pretty picky about my animal sources of protein and don't do super well with a lot of legumes. I'm not saying that more would be harmful, but at what low level of protein will my muscles start falling off? ( :wink: Or, whatever.)

    100-120g. Nearly 1 gram per pound of body weight for me. Which I think is more than adequate.
