I just wanted to say that with all these recalls on food items...please try to be very careful with what you buy. I heard a friend tell me today about how one company (no name) processes jam in jars and I was not too happy to hear what she had to say. I don't want to bash the food industry but I think we all need to be responsible and on high alert with what we put in our mouths. It's hard enough to dine outdoors and wonder what our food meals are made of and now with recalls, its more of a difficult task. Stay away from processed foods. Try to eat wholesome and wash as many produce items as you can. Also, try to go organic when you can and buy/support your local farmer's markets.
We cannot be blind and always accept the food industry. The standards are not always adhered to the way we would like. Every process cannot be monitored 100% of the times. It is our responsibility to watch out for glitches and inform and educate others.
Anyways, my 2 cents worth.

My neighbor slaughtered his hog and gave us some fresh sausage. I was wary about eating it then thought about the things that go on in the commercial slaughterhouses and figured I was being stupid. His fresh sausage can be no worse than the commercial kind.
I guess I am programmed to believe the FDA is really watching out for us and were are safe. Yeah right.0 -
