Coconut Oil

Does anyone here incorporate Coconut Oil in their diets? I have been reading up on it all morning and I’m going to start adding it to my diet. So, I was just wondering if anyone else is doing this and how it is working out for you?

I use it 50 50... Ive done lots of research on it, and yes it is super healthy for you, but at the same time, its not the best for weight loss.0

It's really awesome for super low carb diets, but I'm not sure how well it works for other kinds of diets. It helps increase HDLs and type A LDLs (which are the good kind), but that can show up badly on cholesterol tests since LDLs are calculated, not measured, and type A LDLs are not factored in.0

I FINALLY found some yesterday, so I'm going to be adding a few tablespoons with dinner tonight. I'm thinking it'd be relatively easy in a protein shake, but other than using it to fry with, I'm having trouble thinking of other ways to consume it. Going to look up some coconut rice receipes that use coconut oil.0

Coconut oil is over 50% lauric acid, a medium chain triglyceride which is not metabolised the same as most fatty acids, basically it's used as immediate energy facilitated by the liver. Coconut oil is also a tropical oil which has natural antimicrobial, antifungal, and antiviral properties due mainly to the tropical heat tht would otherwise go rancid easily and supplies structure to the plant. And is good for the formation of improved lipoproteins within our cholesterol profile which auctoritas mentioned. You could do worse, like consuming refined vegetable oils.0

awesome info, people get scared thinking it's "saturated fat" and don't do any more thinking about it.
OP, I have an order arriving tomorrow, I'm excited to use a tablespoon or two in my baking, or smoothies! Flax oil is another good 'un!0 -
I saw some recently and HAD to buy it, as it's hard to find that kind of thing in Turkey. Whatever the health benefits (to be honest, haven't looked into that at all) the taste is awesome, I'm using it more and more. I cook my oat pancake in it in the morning, add a tiny bit to pureed pumpkin and bake... I LOVE it. If you like the taste of coconut, you'll love it too.0

Ditto (except finding it is fairly easy for me since I'm in the US). I love how it tastes. I have been making plantain chips with it. Peel and thinly slice a green plantain, toss in some melted coconut oil, sprinkle with salt, bake at about 400 degrees until crispy.0 -
I use cocont oil most of the time when cooking - example subing coconut oil for veg oil when baking and even fried boneless chicken breast in it - they weren't as greasy and still juicy on the inside
The book Eat Fat Lose Fat has some info in it on coconut oil its a good book if you are lookning for more info - has some good recipies too

I use it for cooking, baking. I add it to protein shakes, my tea/coffee, I use it like butter on toast, I use it as a body moisturizer when I get of of the shower, and I use it on my face and hair! *lol*0

I put 1/2 a tablespoon in my tea in the morning [yes it floats to the top, but you really can't taste it]. However, I've started dribbling it over my waffles in the morning before putting my syrup on. The waffles soak it up, so I KNOW I am getting it all.
I've only been incorporating it for about three weeks now, so not sure if it's helped. I've lost 2.6lbs over the last three weeks, even being kind of lazy about tracking and exercising. But I also started taking MicroMax [same formula as 'Source' for horses - amazing, amazing supplement] at the same time, so I really won't know if it's the CO or the MM that will be making the difference haha
I use it on my hair. I take a tiny amount and run it through the ends of my hair after a shower. I only wash my hair once a week [your hair does NOT need to get washed every day, or even every other day, despite what people may think], on Sundays, and I will slather a BUNCH on my hair on sunday, leave it for a few hours, then shampoo and wash and my hair is just...amazing. Silky, it's grown almost two inches in less than a month.
But, that's not weight loss haha
I will "fry" my turkey sausage in a bit of CO, too. It's pretty good.
Makes for great skin moisturizer, as well.0
