What kind of heart rate monitor should I get?

I have hit a plateau and feel that a Heart Rate Monitor will assist in tracking calories burned more precisely than relying on the calculator here. I'm an engineer so I just feel like I need to be more methodical about it all!
#1 - What heart rate monitors do you all recommend? Would be nice to track calories burned, heart rate maybe steps?
#2 - I usually wear a size 24 so if its a strap I'm not a teeny tiny person..are there any "plus size" sized strapped ones?

amazon has the Polar F4 on it now in a nice ladies color, its like 90 bucks, it is also going on sale at Sports Authority for black friday special coming up for 80. They also have another one on sale there for 30, depends what you are looking for I guess, I always say you get what you pay for though
I have the older version of the Polar F4 and I like it because the chest strap links up with all the machines at the gym so I get more accurate readings, plus I can watch my heart rate on the treadmills easily.0 -
1. Polar.. FT4, FT7, FT40 or FT60 depending on what you want it to do.
2. The straps stretch quite a bit as they are made of elastic. If you are in the US, I suggest looking at heartratemonitorsusa.com as they let you choose the size of the strap. The default strap size for buying a Polar anywhere else is M/XXL or something along those lines.0 -
I know they definitely have ones for that size! I have a POLAR HRM and love it!!! You don't need an expensive one at all. It will be the best thing you can add to your weight loss goals.0

also, I have a 48 inch chest and I still have plenty of room on the strap left to stretch it out more if I needed to.0

we have the polar FT4 and it works like a charm. Tracks your calories as well.0

Love my Polar FT4.....and plenty PLENTY of room left around my chest, I'm a size 22. Word of warning tho, Target's price is $105....as opposed to the $90 tag at other stores like REI (where if you're a member, you get dividend as well!). Just thought that was weird, Target isn't the super store people think it is!0
