Interesting article...

Makes a lot of sense, hopefully it can help a few of you that are dealing with these sort of issues.

I do the same thing though. That is, not tell anyone I am on a diet or working out etc except for people on here. That is what I like about MyfitnessPal; no judgement.

I just read that. It is very interesting. A good read for those that post about family / friends not being supportive.

OMG, I was just telling my friend about a comment my cousin made earlier to me. I never told her or said I was on a diet. I"m always going to the gym and I guess she picks it up. Her comment to me was, "you know it's not good to work out too much." Seriously now??? I just ignored her.
  • I can understand it to a degree, but if you want special arrangements for meals in my family you have to clue them in a little. My family loves heavy foods and eating only a small portion raises alarm.

Inspirational, I wish I had kept my mouth shut over the years on the various diets I embarked on.

People are quick to jump on you if you go off the rails or judge you on what you are eating.
Years ago I remember trying the atkins diet and the pressure I got from people was unbeliveable. I had to recover the book so know one knew what I was reading and eating lol!
Like most people I have tried and failed. I have to say this site has helped me to stick with it and I don't feel anyone is judging me if I have a bad day.

The weight is coming off all-be-it slowly but hey I'm actually having fun on here.

I guess it's different for different people.. When I first started exercising in Feb, I posted it on my Facebook page to let everyone know what I was doing, not so they would hold me accountable, but so they would know if I quit. Up until August I posted everyday on facebook after I finished exercising... I think you should announce you goals and go full bore at them... If your friends are your friends they'll support you and be happy for you... If they don't support you, you can find new friends that will, because friends that don't support you are not real friends..
