About 40% of total calories should be about good.0

There are a few versions of low carb. I am doing the primal/paleo diet which has me at 50-100 grams of carb for weight loss. see: www.marksdailyapple.com0

This is a heated subject on these boards!
I am doing low carb and I eat around 50 carbs a day from mostly veggies so the net is about 30.0 -
My settings are 40% protein, 30% carb, 30% fat ---- there is no perfect answer.
Change your settings to fit your own lifestyle. My settings give me 90-120g carbs a day and I aim for 120-150g protein.0 -
It is very important to find what works for you. To be generally aligned with what is advised in the South Beach and Ducan (sp?) diets, setting your goals to calculate 40% each for carbs and protein and 20% fat should work.
I try to stay under 100 carb grams/day, on a 1,200 calorie diet. This allows room for non-starchy veggies and has consistently delivered 1-2 pounds weight loss each week. Some recommend carb-cycling. Alternating higher (not high) days with low. I find this effective, but more difficult to manage.

I also have been going by the above for quite a while (on a 1200 cal diet) and I noticed the biggest difference below 50 net carbs (fiber does not count so its carbs - fiber) but once I got below 100g I started losing weight pretty quickly. However, I am now working on ketosis so I am lower. But I try to have <50 net carbs, usually shoot for <35 (before lowering it for ketosis). I would say anywhere below 100 would be good for starting out though. I had my % set at I think 20 before but I have lowered that now for ketosis. However, I firmly believe this --- make sure you get a free day if you go real low because otherwise your body will adapt to the low carbs over time, which you do not want to happen, and the free day helps to spike weight loss to avoid plateauing Also you need to make up for the cals in fat, any more than 1.5g of protein per lb of body fat is said to make eating low carb pointless since the protein can be turned into glucose. I suggest about 1g per lb of bf for protein and the rest in fat. If you are new to it I suggest starting at 100g and slowly lowering down to 50ish and just see how your body is progressing. It took me A LOT of experimentation.0 -
Mine is at 10% of my calories.0
