Hey My Fitness Pals,

On this past Saturday, I did a Leslie Sansone advanced walking video and my back muscle went out. I didn't notice until the next day. So on Sunday, I did some light cleaning around the house. Then, this Monday morning, my back was throbbing! I could barely walk!! When, I got home from work, it stopped hurting for a little bit. Then, I attempted to do some cardio, but my back started hurting again. I don't want to rest because I gained a few pounds and I am getting back into exercising again. I really don't want to slack off. What exercise should I do until my back gets better? Please help!

are you sure it was a muscle? i pulled ligerments oin my back last year and i thought it was a muscle i ended up having to go to a physio so he could loosing my back up for a few sessions.

I suggest you see a doctor before doing any more exercise just in case you have done something more than a muscle.

You should get some professional advice on this - see a doctor or physiotherapist who can work out exactly what is wrong and let you know whether continuing to exercise will help or hurt the problem.

Hard to know what to tell you to do because we don't know how bad it is. For me, if I have a minor strain, I may just do some walking until it gets better. If it is a little bit worse than that, I may just choose to take a few days off & let it heal. And if it is really bad, I'd see a doctor. I've experienced all 3 scenarios with my back. Again, hard to say because we can't feel what you feel, and most of us are not doctors. I would say this: be careful because sometimes injuries, if not cared for properly, can become worse and/or develop into chronic pain. Sorry I couldn't offer anything more than this. Hope you heal fast!

If it hurts so bad and you can't do physical exercise you should see a Dr. Especially if it's been a few days..I've always been told by the people on bodybuilders.com to lift and work out hard, rest harder. If your body hurts so bad you can't really do much then it needs to heal. Pain is there to inform you of your body and how it's doing, don't ignore it. It it was light and you could push through it, it would be a different matter.

There is a difference between muscle soreness and pain. If you have pain you don't need to be working it out and making it worse.
