How Much Sleep Are You Getting?

I'm curious to learn the sleep patterns of fellow MFP's. Do you sleep a lot, a little? Do you go to be earlier to dodge cravings or do you stay up late? Do you like to sleep or would you rather get less sleep?
For me, I usually am in bed around 930 and up at 6am. Everyday. Now there are times when I get strong cravings at night and its just easier to go to bed and forget about them. Days like these have seen me in bed at 8pm at times.
How important do you think sleep is to overall well-being? Just curious...

I rarely get enough sleep... that's all I know. *sigh* 6 - 6.5 hours a night during the week... and 7-9 on the weekends.
And I think sleep is VERY important. Most people (myself included of course) do not get nearly enough sleep on a regular basis.0 -
Bed by 10pm (usually), up at 5:45pm with a rest in the afternoon for about an hour (usually). I have fibromyalgia, so rest so super important. If I don't get enough sleep, or if I don't sleep well, I hurt so much more. I wish I didn't need so much.0

I try to go to bed earlier when I'm hungry so I don't go down and get a snack but I love to stay up late. Can't on weekdays though with my work schedule. I still get at least 8 hours of sleep a night though. Which is sometimes a bad thing because the more extra sleep I get, the more tired I am in the morning when I'm forced to get up for work.0

I try to go to bed by 9:30 and up at 5:30. Sleep is very important. I have read...not sure if it is true...but not getting enough sleep can cause weight gain.0

Notg much at all. Maybe 5 hours a night but it's very interrupted. I do get cravings at night, but I've learned to ignore them. I know they eventually go away.0
-
I'm with you! Go to bed @9:30 and up at 5:40.........8hrs or I am a bear!!!
But I have found that if I am having a craving that I give in to it. WIthin moderation0 -
I just read a report that the healthiest people (i.e. people who have the most energy) during the day get 6 to 7 hours of sleep a night (uninterrupted).
Sleeping, to me, is very important. I have sleep apnea so I went for years without any "real sleep." Finally, something is working for me and I can actually stop having, what I call, no-sleep migraines!0 -
My sleep patterns are all over the place. I seem to average 6-7 hours a night. When I'm not working I usually get about 6 hours (3am-9am just a night owl). When working back to back days 7am-7pm I try to be in bed by 11pm for an 5:45am wake up. Once a week I manage a really good rest 8-9 hrs.0

I go to bed usually between 10 & 11pm wake up on weekdays at 7. Weekends I sometimes go to bed later & sleep in. I love sleep & think it's very important.0

I never sleep nearly enough. I don't really like sleep, but I know I NEED it. I rarely fall asleep before 12 and I get up at 5 for work every day. On my days off I try really hard but can't sleep passed 7, 8 at the latest. Any day I get less than four hours' sleep, I have the urge to eat EVERYTHING in sight. I think my body is just desperate for energy at that point.0

I too have read that sleep is important not only to your well being but to weight loss as well. I actually enjoy sleeping! But I am also a mother of a 6 and 4 year old who can at time disrupt my sleep, so I've learned to sleep when I can.0

I average 8 hours of sleep per night, sometimes more.0

During the work week, I'm always asleep by 10...sometimes early...and usually with a nap right after work (and before my workout). I wake up at 5:15. I wish I didn't have to wake up so early for work so that I could wake up that early to run! No way am I ever gettng up before 5 to work out, though. Haha.
If I don't get a decent sleep, I still am fine but never feel well. Unless I am out in New York City, in which case I don't bother with sleep and am just useless at work the next morning.
I like people's responses here...it seems like most of us have generally healthy sleeping patterns, which is a big part of being healthy!0 -
Usually go to bed around midnight, give or take. On weekdays I'm up no later than 8:15 to do the morning routine with my daughter & get her to school.
Currently, I'm job hunting so I'm known to take an afternoon nap. On weekends when I can sleep in, I usually sleep till 10:30-11am. I love my sleep!0 -
i avg 3-5hrs a night, usually around 4ish on weekdays0
-
Lately it's been 7 - 8 hours per night. Tuesday nights, I usually get 4 hours because SOA is on. I can usually do pretty well with a steady 5.0

It all depends on my work schedule. Tonight I'll be getting to bed a little after 11 (wrestling's on and I love my wrestling!) and getting up about 8 or 9.. the days I gotta open its usually about 10 pm i get to bed. the days i dont have to work, i stay up til at least 11 or 12 lol0

I sleep about 4-6 on the weekdays and 6-8 on the weekends! Very rarely do I get 8 hours of sleep!0
-
Bed at 5am, up at 1pm...8 solid hours a night0

i head to bed around 10-10:30pm in general - up between 6:30-7:00am (depends on when my 4 yr old wakes).
i need my sleep.....or i go completely crazy (just ask my kids and my husband).
sometimes i can get by on 6-7 hours, but not for too many days in a row.0 -

Same here, in terms of hurting, but my sleeping is all over the place. I get anywhere from 5-13 hours depending on what I'm doing and how I sleep. If I drug myself, I need less. If I don't, I need more. I have a sleep issue where I don't get enough effective REM and it's completely out of whack, so that just kills my ability to have a regular sleep schedule0 -
I dont get enough sleep simply because of my grad program. It is designed for full time workers, but is Accelerated. So one night class per week for 7 weeks. Basically cramming one full MBA graduate course in 7 weeks mean a lot of homework! So between work, daily workouts(4 days running, 3 days strength/yoga), taking care of my apartment by myself, and having a social life...sleep is not what it should be. Typically...bed by 12 AM, up at 7 AM for work M-F. Saturdays up by 7 for long runs, Sundays by 8AM. But it will all be worth it in the end :-)0

I'm laid in bed from about 7-8pm watching telly as it's comfiest place and I have mobility issues.
If I'm planning on getting up early to exercise it usually lights out at about 10.30pm and hopefully I'll get to sleep soon after. If not planning workout may watch telly till 11-12, and usually getup between 8-9am as have dog to walk daily...occasionally I'll go back to bed with a cuppa if weathers bad as we can't go out straight away, but I don't usually go back to sleep, usually end up on here..lol!
Tonight I've been awake though since 2am (UK time) as injured back and in a lot of pain at minute..spent first few hours trying to doze back off, but still wide awake so ended up on here! ... Hoping to catch up with sleep tonight instead! ..usually it's at least 6 hours though, I rarely sleep longer than 8 in one go unless got flu or something.0 -
Very little! I am a college student! I am always up doing homework, studying, etc......and I get up early every morning because I just do lol...0
-
No where near enough!!! what time I go to bed really depends on how much studying i have to do etc..but I'm usually in bed between 10:30-11 and I wake up at 6:20. I cant work out in the mornings, I need as much sleep as i can get!! so I'll usually work out around 4 or 5 when I get home0
-
I strive for 8 hours, but am happy with a solid 6.
Tonight, I'll be getting about 4 hours, waking up and doing 2 workouts then leaving town hopefully by 5am.
It's gonna get naughty.0 -
I average 7-8 hours on the week days and then 8-10 on the weekends. I love sleep! I work hard all my body needs proper rest.0
-
It varies throughout the week, anywhere from 6-10 hours depending on the day. Sleeping is my favorite pastime!0
