    They're both wrong. It's ALWAYS a typo for "burp."

    You'll notice that most of the time you see it on a recipe post.

    It adds the post to the list on your profile page (like a bookmark). You can then return to the thread later for reference or some other reason. People write "Bump" to show that they have nothing to contribute (and you can't leave the post blank).

    If I "bump" something, I can go back to "My Topics" later to read the thread. Especially useful if a post is long and/or has links in it.
    Good to do too if you really don't have a comment to add, but want to follow the conversation later.
