Ok, so this has probably been covered a million times, but I just can't seem to find it.

When weighing foods, do you weigh it before or after it's cooked.

For example, a raw chicken breast weighs more than a cooked one.

And with noodles, do you weigh your serving before or after it's cooked?

Thanks for the help!

After. I'm not eating it before it's cooked.

Weigh pasta BEFORE it's cooked (2 oz. is a serving, which makes about 1 cup of cooked pasta), and weight meats AFTER they are cooked.

There are usually entries in the database for raw and cooked items.
Just search for "chicken breast raw" or "chicken breast gilled" or "rice dry" or "pasta cooked", you get the idea.
Usually if it isn't stated I would guess raw, but as most of the entries in the database are user entered, there are no guarantees!

pasta I think is before you cook it....it is a lot heavier and seems to be a lot more there after you cook it.
I think it depends on what it is....if you are reading the label on a bag of raw chicken breat I believe that info is for the uncooked product. No expert here just my thoughts. Curious to see what others say.

    Hey girlie!

Always weigh pasta before you cook it. Most serving sizes for pasta precooked is 2oz however once cooked ........it equals out to about 1 cup but its alot easier and much more precise if you weigh it before.

Meats should be weighed after you cook them.
