Sugar Intake

Does anyone else look at the sugar intake that MFP reccomends? I am a dessert freak and for the last 2 months, I have started cutting down on most of my sugars. But one of my weakness is making lattes with skim milk which has 11 gms of sugar!
Does anyone have ideas on how to control your sugar intake? Does anyone even look at that?

Oh by the way, does anyone know how MFP calculates how the sugar intake goal is supposed to be? Mine varies during the week.0

It does! If your goal is to lose weight then you must limit the sugar intake!0

Make your latte with almond milk instead....less calories too.0

you don't have to limit the sugar intake. I had 70g of sugar today and im doing just fine lol0 -
Tried it with almond milk and hated the taste of almond milk heated. It tastes more nutty. At times I do a 50:50 mix, but it doesnt have the same taste. thinking of doing a 50:50 with skim milk and water..
Does anyone else have craving for something sweet? My vices for dessert are the fiber one brownie packs ( it will do) and the Chocolate rice cakes.0 -
Thanks! I am not trying to lose weight but body fat %. For me, I have realized decreasing sugar intake is the key for me to acheive my goal0

I am a huge sugar addict! and I've tried limiting my sugar. It helps to go a little at a time (but it seems like you're already doing this.) I am trying to only go over by 20 for a while). as far as lattes... that's a tough one. I would say you could do the sugar free syrup but those tend to be more processed and retain your weight even more. Unless all the sugar is coming from the milk? then I would say drink smaller ones. Not sure if you make them yourself, but if you go to Starbucks they have a size smaller than "tall" it's just not on the menu. It's called short! haha
but yes, limiting sugar is my weakness so I'll be keeping an eye on this thread0 -

Likewise. For me, sugar is just a carrier of calories. As long as i keep my calories in check, and get my protein, i don't even look at my sugar, let alone worry about it. Been the same since i started, and I've never felt better!0 -
Limiting sugar intake will do wonders for weight loss, but that doesn't mean you have to kick dessert. Sugary foods beget cravings for sugary foods, as well as messing with your insulin resistance (something you might be interested in reading about!)
What I do is if I want dessert that day, I will try to limit "normal" sugars I'd ingest daily (like in fruit and milk) so that I can have that dessert. I don't do this often though because milk comes with calcium and protein and a neenish tart does not! But suffering on a diet is not worth it. Moderate yourself and don't sweat tiny overages and surpluses that happen once in a blue moon :-)0 -
Try heavy cream cut with water. A little higher in fat, but way less sugar.0

I don't consider my sugar intake to be a problem at all. I don't eat processed foods but still get a massive amount of sugar from fruit (70+g a day sometimes). I don't care in the slightest.0

I don't even notice my sugar intake. I'm sure it's quite high because I really love fruit. I do limit my added sugar. I use two teaspoons of sugar a day in my tea because I don't like fake sugar and I don't feel bad about the 32 calories. I don't worry about sugar in fruit or milk.
I do keep an eye on my overall carbs and balance with fat and protein.. Also I strive for 40 grams of fiber per day.0 -
I don't care about sugars that come from non-processed foods. I limit sweets, but I don't eliminate them. I still eat food I enjoy so I don't feel deprived, and I enjoy certain things in moderation.0

Thanks! All the sugar is actually from Fat Free milk as I make my lattes at home with Truvia and instant coffee powder. Thanks for your suggestion.0
