What equipment should I get?

I already swim, cycle and walk a lot but I really want to get some sort of exercise equipment as I won't be joining a gym. I don't really have that much more weight to lose and I am more interested in being built rather than skinny.

Does anyone have any advice on what sort of equipment to use? I would like something for cardio and something for helping me build muscle once I am done with the weight loss. I realise if I wanna be really buff then I will have to join a gym but at the minute this is not feasible for my time or wallet.

Thanks

People seem quite fond of exercise DVDs. You can check out online reviews to see which are the most popular (and I'm sure folks here have recommendations).

Personally, I usually need to go to a class rather than exercising at home, but I do exercycle in a bit front of the TV (and I like walking). The exercycle is convenient, but only really works the lower half of the body.

You can no doubt get cheap 2nd hand exercise equipment on your local online aution site (Amazon or Ebay or whatever) and people get sucked into the ads, buy it then don't use it...

Or you could just get some weights and learn how to use them.

    Good luck on your journey!

A stationery bike or a cross trainer because it doubles as a clothes horse when not in use lol!

Haha, I thought about a stationary bike. Even though I cycle already it is only go get from a to b. I love cross trainers but I have no coordination :)

For cardio, I would suggest a treadmill or eliptical machine with a TV. I often spend more time on them becuase there is a TV in front of them.

For strength I like small weights.

And DVDs of exercises you like are great too! You can borrow them from the library for a week or two at a time.

I do love the idea of a treadmill, even though I hate running I want to get better at it. My mum used to be a long distance runner. I use a lot of DVD's already, I have lost a lot of my weight and inches by using them and swimming.

I used to hate using the stationery bike, but now I've rigged up the telly I happily cycle away watching BBC Iplayer through the Wii.
It's the best way for me to burn or earn calories
