Cabbage. To be super easy, just use a bag of pre-shredded cole slaw mix from the grocer.
  • Green beans, diced tomatoes...

I used to put barley it in, but then my son and I were diagnosed with gluten allergies and now I put in potatoes.

I almost forgot tomotoes and I put spinach in everything.

Wow, I have water chestnuts, but not bean sprouts, where do I get chinese 5 spice? I have chives in the herb garden (instead of onion?). This sounds soo sooooo good!

Most grocery stores have asian spices in their international aisle.

OR, if you have any asian markets/stores in your area, they are GUARANTEED to have it.

Its cheap, tastes GREAT and its like chinese potpourri!

I took part in Chinese New Year celebrations with a chinese school I once volunteered for - and the principal told me of a cantonese stew they make for day-one. Its one of a very few dishes where they use potato.. but not alot of it... basically its a brown thick sauce (almost the same consistency as our beef stew here), flavored delicately with chinese 5-spice, the soy sauce replaces the worcestershire sauce, and then add the remaining ingredients to your own liking...

Its REALLY good and comforting food too!

Now there is a novel idea. I love chicken tikka masala. Especially good with a naan on the side.
