What to eat for breakfat?

I know I need to eat breakfast. My problem is that my stomach doesn't seem to wake up with the rest of me. I need to be awake a couple of hours before I feel like eating. If I eat too soon, my stomach feels unsettled.
I usually drink a protein shake or glass of milk in the morning with my vitamins. I don't eat carbs on an empty stomach because it makes me feel shaky so breads and cereals don't work well for me. Is a glass of milk or protein shake enough to constitute breakfast?

I have the same problem, I do the protein shake first thing, then take an apple or whatever I'm going to have for breakfast and usually end up eating it at work like 10-10:30am.0

if you aren't hungry when you wake up, don't eat. You don't have to eat breakfast.0 -
You don't NEED to eat breakfast. The most important thing you need to do is hit your calorie goals for the day. How you choose to break that up into meals for the day is up to you. Some people like to eat 5-6 small meals throughout the day, some like to eat 3 square meals, and some even like to eat all their calories in one sitting, once per day.
Do what's comfortable for you, just aim for your calorie goal every day.0 -

Agreeing WHOLEHEARTEDLY! I like to start most days with a cup of coffee and a glass of water... then there are days where I do wake up hungry and Ill grab something for breakfast.
Im under the care of my endocrinologist and even she agreed, target the calorie goals outlined and make the necessary meal-time adjustments...0 -

Best bfast food is a hard boiled egg. It fills you up and I swear I am not hungry again for several hours. And the plus side--its about 70 calories. Its protein instead of carbs which gives you energy for later. For your metabolism to really get going you have to eat, so skipping bfast is really bad for you if you are trying to lose weight. hope this helps!0

Sorry but this is not true for everyone.
There are many days I sleep in after working well past midnight, I get up at 9 or 10am, and not hungry until noon time....and my metabolism runs pretty darn good with the weight loss and some mornings, I dont even wake up until 11am... These days, I have two meals because of working alot of hours, coming home to shower, change and go right to bed... and nothing in my health records shows anything counterproductive....
We dont know what (if any) the OP's medical situations are if they include a metabolic-related issue. Whether or not the OP should always be eating breakfast is best decided on between the OP and their PCP or specialist overseeing their care.0
