Hi dear MFPs, i leave Africa in the next three days to uk, its pretty warm here, 29 to 32 degrees and i am used to working out here. a little worried that it might be difficult to work out in uk since the temperature is between 8 to 10 degrees. Feels like my joints would be too cold to workout.

Any advise? how do you workout in the cold?

A Norwegian saying is that there's no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothes.

Wear layers. As you begin your exercise you might be a little cold. That's okay, as you warm up you'll find you'll be at the right level of clothing for your exercise.

Stretch, stretch, stretch... i live in Maine, NORTHERN MAINE ha ha and it gets and stays pretty cold here for months and months :) I don't live close to a gym so my 'gym' is the great outdoors, rain, snow, sun... Good luck to you!

I moved to DC from Texas last year and it was NOT pretty for me when the weather changed. But I discovered that with the right clothing, running in the cold (especially in the dark) is a special thrill. And you feel like you are in a secret club with all the other cold-runners. Your local running shop can set you up with some fantastic gear... you won't even notice, I promise.

I live in south Texas so it doesn't get super cold in the winter but were renovating and this past winter we have no central ac and the cold air was inside and outside.
I do various Beachbody workouts so going to the gym for me. However in order to get warm enough in a 30degree house I'd start off with a ton of layers: two shirts, sweatshirt, sweat pants, 2 pairs of socks, bathrobe, scarf, hat, and gloves. I had everything tucked into everything elseto minimize th ecold air on my skin. Then I just got started exercising and shed layers as I warmed up. I looked like a crazy person but I was warm and got in a good workout!
    Hope this helps.
