Getting over the Hump

I have noticed that a lot of people on here all have tickers stuck around 30 lbs lost. I started this on August 1 and was losing at a rate of 10 lbs per month. I know that is bound to slow down with time here, but what is it about these plateaus such as the one I am at? What is it about this mark that it seems so many people get caught at? What are some tips people have to get around them? What extra thing can be done or shouldn't be done. I just feel like I am settling in and the weight is barely coming off anymore. Not wanting lose any motivation here before the holidays, what does everyone recommend?

I am interesting in hearing what others have to say. Once I lost 15 pounds it slowed alot, I lost inches, but no pounds for 4 weeks. Then I lost 7 pounds really fast, and now I am not losing again. When I lose alot, I am still just doing the same about of calories and same amount of workouts. Not sure what causes the fluctuations.0
