I have my calorie intake set to loose approx a lb/week, and I usually eat pretty close to what it say I should be eating. But, I have been feeling like I'm not eating enough. I'm not hungry exactly, just feeling a little my body is telling me It's not getting enough. I have in the last month or so become quite a bit more active, eg exefcising basically every day, should I change my activity level? Any imput will help. My food diary is set to public, so feel free to take a look.

In my opinion, definitely not enough. If you burn 200 when you're only taking in 1200, that's a net of 1000. You should NEVER net below 1,200, that's what your body needs to just pump blood and perform bodily functions. Listen to your body!

Your diary looks good to me...but always listen to your body. If you are losing a pound a week, that is a good, healthy rate. Do you like that banana cream protein powder? That's the one I was looking into getting.

I think your diary looks fine to me! You eat some exercise calories so that works out nicely (I eat 90% of mine - you could try that!). Just a suggestion (please don't take this the wrong way at all) but if you were looking to gain more food calories, maybe you could cut out things like the French Vanilla Coffee creamer? For 75 calories, you could have an apple, orange or another piece of fruit - then you'd be eating more for the same amount of calories. I know it's not as fun, but eating cleaner translates to eating more.

I just checked the last week of your diary

    1) Are you drinking plenty of water?
    2) You tend to stay under - maybe try some zig zagging not enough some days and more some days (but try to always eat at least 1200 cals)
    3) Mix up your exercise routine

These are the things that worked for me when I would get 'stuck'

I think your eating enough, but need to add fresh fruit, and a bit more veggies...Thats just my opinion. Being that I have 3 young kids a lot of food prep isn't an option, so I do all that when I get it home from the store. Clean/cut all veggies. Clean all fruit, so its just ready to eat and run.:)

How about all those other days where you netted under 1200? You have at least a couple hundred calories left over on most days, but you're complaining that you aren't eating enough. Well...?
  • From looking at your food diary, you definately have some room to simply eat more given your 1200 calorie goal. You seem to eating good amount of snacks throughout the day that basically matches about what you intake on any given meal. If you want to feel fuller and your body not have that a unsatisfied feeling, you may consider adding in a meal replacement shake. It would be healthier than all of your snacks put together and keep you fuller throughout the day. Ofcourse, you need to make sure you are intaking enough water throughout the day. Sometimes a glass of water will hold give you that full feeling for an hour or two until the next meal. Good luck!

Lose the booze, lose the chocolates, add some fruits/vegetables.

To be honest I hadn't realized there were days I was under the 1200... Well I guess therein lies my problem. Lol

If you are hungry, change it to a half pound a week. You are more likely to stick to something that is "easy". I much prefer a slow easy "life style change" over a fast, restrictive hard "diet".

I agree. You might feel better, too, if you customize your goals to get a little more protein. I did best when I was around 1500 (plus exercise calories) calories and about 100g of protein.

My suggestion would be to eat more healthy calories. I know it's harder with young kids, but things like chicken nuggets and mac and cheese are so processed. The calories that these things have aren't very nurishing for your body.

I'd add more fresh veggies and fruits and also some low-fat dairy (recommended is 2 servings a day I think).
  • Generally speaking, if you aren't sure then you probably aren't.
