Pre-pay phone plans?

In your opinion, what is the best pre-pay phone service plan? I have to get rid of my iphone because it costs too much :( I am probably going to just keep it on me and use wi-fi for apps and whatnot and get a simple phone for texting and the occasional phone call. The plans all look so much alike though. Any recommendations would be appreciated :)

I have a tracfone and I'm pretty happy with it. It doesn't do anything fancy like an iPhone, but at least I get texting :)

Virgin Mobile-- hands down. They have reasonable Android plans for like $30 a month-- no contract. I'm stuck with T-Mobile. I totally miss my cheap Virgin phone "bill."

Look into www.straighttalk.com and see what they offer in your area. Unlimited text, talk & web for $45. You have to buy your phone but it's cheaper in the long run.

I have Virgin Mobile. They have a $35 plan with 300 minutes and unlimited data/texting, $45 for 1200 minutes and unlimited data/texting, or $55 for unlimited everything. They have several Android phones, too. I have the LG Optimus V, and it does just fine. Probably not as fancy as an iPhone, but it does everything I need it to.

I did a LOT of research on this a few months ago and Virgin had the best plans. My daughter is 12 and needed unlimited texting, and I wanted to continue to have an Android phone. This was the best plan for us.

Virgin mobile does look pretty good, unfortunately, I looked at their coverage map and it is not very good in my area.
  • Virgin Moble, I pay 25 a month for 300 minutes (i never use) unlimited texting, unlimited data. I use smart phone on it. I know it increased to $35 but I am still at $25, not sure why,, maybe grandfathered? I really like it,, never a drop call,, it use Sprint signals. no contract

check Sprint coverage. if there is signal in your area, then VM will work.

My kids had Virgin Mobile and their coverage area isn't very good. We had an AT&T Go! Phone and it was good (better than Virgin mobile). Not sure the cost of their plans anymore, but I was pleased with them.
  • We have walmart family mobile its by T-Mobile. Excellent coverage and coming from me thats pretty good I live in the valley and travel to LA a lot , and the phone never loses signal in the canyons or mountains or valleys. And its pretty cheap we have 3 phones unlimited talk and text for 100$/mo for all 3 phones
