This looks like a nice place to hang out. I read some of the messages posted and liked what I saw - supportive, friendly and genuine. So, I just joined. Not sure what's expected but I entered my food intake for today and that was kind of fun. I had been keeping track of it myself but this looks simpler.
Since we're supposed to introduce ourselves I'll let you know that I've been very overweight for the past fifteen years or so and never gave much thought to how I ate or whether or not I exercised. But I started walking the last week of July and have kept it up ever since averaging 5-6 times a week for an hour a day. I'm very pleased with that as that's the most exercise I've done in years.
My doctor told me to lose 20 pounds or he was going to put me on blood-pressure medicine. I don't want that so I'm trying to lose the weight. So far I've lost 13 which is about 1 pound per week, but for three weeks I've stayed the same. Tonight I did a search entitled "cannot stop snacking at night" and up popped this site. That's where I read the good comments...and that's why I'm here. Maybe if I read enough or participate enough I'll stop eating the darned snacks at night. I have a feeling this is where I'm falling down and why I'm not losing weight like I was the first two months.
Anyway, nice to be here and I wish everyone well.

Hello back at ya from Las Vegas! I was actually born and raised in Kentucky and moved to Vegas about 11 years ago. My Health Coach told me about this wonderful website a little over a month ago and I have met some wonderful people and made some amazing friends. It is a great support system and I can't begin to tell you how thankful that I'm here. If you don't mind I am sending you a friend request. Again welcome to MFP!!!!!0

Thanks for the welcomes. Not sure what the friend requests are all about. I clicked on the first one but now I'm wondering exactly what those are...so I've ignored the others. Don't want to be rude but can someone enlighten me what they are? Thanks.
Edit:
Good start. Since I've been fiddling with this site for the last couple of hours trying to learn where things are and how to do things I've not eaten a thing. It works! Ha. Being here helps...of course I had already eaten the cheeseburger, half a bag of CheckMix and a granola bar before I got here. grrr...... Maybe tomorrow will be better.0 -
Hey, welcome. My dad had several tours at Fort Knox so I spent years in KY. I now live in Alabama. We are all here for the same reason. This is one place where people totally understand the struggles and challenges and will offer encouragement. Good luck on staying off the meds!0

Welcome! It seems that several of us have some sort of connection to Kentucky. My wife is from Louisville. Don't hold it against her, as I try not to. LOL! I think you'll enjoy the people and information here.0
