i'm well aware of the fluctuation thing and thought i understood it enough to be OK with it, but I don't think I can take it anymore! i get down to a number i'm excited about and the next day i'm up 2,3 sometimes more! what more can i do? its so hard not to give up when you feel like all you do is work at this thing and the losses are so fragile. any words of encouragement would be greatly appreciated...

Honesty to yourself usually cures this. If you've been consistent, and saying, "well I had a little more sodium or I ate ____" but other than that I've been consistent", then you haven't been being consistent. I always find that someone who fluctuates greatly, probably throws in things that their bodies have immediate reactions to.

I get round this by weighing every day but only tracking when I reach a new low. That way you get an idea of the overall trend not the daily fluctuations and keep a focus on the positive.

When I have those, I look back at my progress chart (I'm a total graph geek). I think back to where I was at Memorial Day, and that I felt good then when I got to that point. But "look how much farther I've come since then!" I know that if I'm doing good things for my body, the weight will follow. Sometimes I need a little extra perspective.

i agree with you niner! i do go over on sodium most days, but that's nothing new. i am super regimented except on the weekends when i indulge in a little wine, but that isn't new either. sucks.
