Hey MFPers!

Need a bit of help i am totally stuck and getting down about it all.

I have been stuck at the same weight for about 4 months now, i have tried upping calories, increasing excercise, decreasing calories, increasing excercise etc. I have tried everything that i could think of.

I am just wondering is there any advise from anyone about what i could do to lose the last bit or do you think i am supposed to stay at this weight. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Many Thanks
Sam

We had a huge "last 10 pounds" thread going on MFP which may be helpful:

I havent exactly pleateaued (knock on wood)...but I have slowed down. Hit the 35lbs lost mark..was losing about 3- 3.5lbs a week...now it is slowing to 1.5 lbs a week lose...which is fine and healthy...but I try to shake things up...so..for 3 days at a time..I cut out all meat. I get my protein from PB, dairy, eggs. Then I will incorporate meat back in and cut out carbs for 2 or 3 days. It keeps the body guessing :)
  • Try doing HIIT. High Intensity Interval Training. Maintain your calories. HIIT is really only for like 20 minute periods, but they are hard. You are basically running for a steady pace over a period of time 15-20 mins total. And within those minutes of running at about a 6.0 mph pace you do occasional sprints as fast as you can. Atleast 10.5 mph for 30 - 60 seconds. So basically, you warm up on a treadmill. Start running at 5.5-6.5 mph, and depending on what shape your in every 1 minute to 3 mins you do a good sprint. After that sprint you lower your speed back to 5.5 -6.5 mph. If your not in shape for this at all, go easy and work yourself up. Do only about 4 sprints for less than 30 secs each. I just started this about 2 weeks ago, maintaining a decent diet (Other than the wedding i went to over the past weekend :] ) and I have lost over 5 lbs. I was in the same situation u were in, having trouble loosing the last few lbs. Well its working, and it is hard. But make sure you also work other muscles to help burn more! Good luck!
  • I stopped exercising for a week and ate more! It worked!
  • I was stuck for four whole months at the same weight. (The good news is I didn't gain any of what I'd lost back.) What turned the trick for me was lowering fat, upping complex carbs and adding a mile a day to my walk. Look at your fat intake. If you eat 100 extra fat calories, 97 get converted to body fat. If you eat 100 extra carb calories (not junk, empty carbs!) only 60 get converted. It takes about 40 calories to convert them to bodyfat. It worked for me. Anyway, hang in there and don't give up. Good luck!
