I've seen it but I don't follow it exactly as he's laid it out. He works only one specific area each day (upper, lower, obliques) for 3-4 exercises for 3 sets. I work all 3 areas every day, choosing 1 exercise for each area but still doing 3 sets of each and as many reps as possible. I alternate the selection of the exercises every day. For example, for upper abs, one day I'll do crunches using the medicine ball, the next day I'll do the swiss ball rollout. I do this just in case I skip day; I don't have to remember which area I worked last.0

That might be a good idea just use the technique and switch up the exercises so that you get more of a balanced workout.
I don't think I would call this ripped. This is closer to how I feel I look now.0 -

You would need to still combine this routine with a calorie deficit. You can't spot reduce fat, so in order to be able to see the six pack, you would need to reduce your overall body fat percentage.0

Diet is going to contribute to abs more than anything else.0

I'm already limiting my caloric intake as well as running 3 times a week, but I'm looking for a good strength training program that should last around 4 months or so. I know that limiting calories can only do so much, I really not only want to lose weight, but get more fit and gain muscle mass.0

You already have a six pack, if you can't see it that's because it's under a layer of fat. From a strictly 'having a six pack' perspective, building ab muscles will only help in increasing your definition somewhat...after you already can see your six pack.
Building core strength is of course useful for a variety of other things, but if all you want to do is get a six pack, diet's the thing to look at.
If you're trying to increase muscle mass at the same time, it's nearly impossible to do so without also gaining some fat as well, which will directly conflict with your goal of getting a 6-pack.0 -
I love ab workouts, but you also need the cardio aspect of the workout so you are burning any fat that is hiding your muscles. Some great ones that still work the abs include: burpees, mountain climbers, high knees jump rope, and high knees running in place. You need to do exercises that are more focused on strengthening, but include your obliques and back. Without a strong back you can't have strong, healthy abs.0
