I would like to buy an HRM that is efficient and doesnt cost too much money. I want to be able to see how actual calories I burn but the HRMs are a bit costly.. does anybody have any suggestions as for what brand or where I can look for one?

tl;dr - make sure it has a chest strap. can't go wrong with Garmin or Polar.0 -
The Polar FT4 is the least expensive, reliable HRM I have found. It includes calorie expenditure.
If you just need the heart rate and can calculate calories yourself, the FT1 would work also.0 -
Thanks for the input, I will google them right now and check them out:happy:0

Why should it have a chest strap?0 -
The ones without a chest strap are crap, very inaccurate. The heart rate widgets on cardio machines that read from your hands are equally crappy.0

i bought a New Balance N4 for women at Target. Regular price $69.99 on sale for $62.99. It comes with the chest strap and watch. The chest strap ensures that your heart rate is acccurate. It sends the signal to the watch of every beat of the heart. The watch is programed with height, weight, age, and sex info. It tells you about the exact amount of calories burned during workout, fat%, max HR, Average HR, time in fat burning zone, and time spent exercising. I bought mine in April for my Birthday. I have had no trouble with it and found it to be very accurate. I hope this information helps you.0

I love my Polar FT7 -- Shop around, you can find a good deal for whichever model you choose if you look hard enough. :flowerforyou:0
