Well I was wondering how you guys are staying on track this holiday season. I gained 3 pounds last thanksgiving but then I learned my lesson and I actually lostr 3 pounds over Christmas and new Years. But I was wondering how y'all are handling temptation.

I'm cooking at my house. I'm only making ONE family traditional side dish, the one I can't live without (Mom's turkey stuffing recipe). Anything else I'm making gets revamped big time. As a matter of fact, even Mom's turkey stuffing will be revamped to include egg whites instead of whole eggs.

I'm making all the meals low fat. I'm replacing the pork with turkey, crisco with olive oil, etc. Staying super busy. i even planned a special family workout. Black friday shopping will also help me stay away from the food.

By making the "holidays" 2 days of being off track and not a whole "season"
  • Not sure, thought i'd cut portions. Use low fat when I can and planing on taking a walk after dinner.

I'm just simply cutting down on portion size. I (like most people) will eat until I'm miserably full during the holidays...but my goal this year is to only eat a certain amount, and once that has been eaten I'm done! it'll be difficult because our family is filled with amazing cooks. my plan is to drink lots and lots of water to fill that empty hungry feeling once I've eaten the portions I've decided on.

Holidays are big in my family. I just do the best I can with portion control. I then try and be extra cautious a few days before and after. I know I will not succeed trying to make big changes. Besides, Christmas and Thanksgiving are the times I make awesome dishes for the family and I am not going to scrimp on what I am making or serving. If it means only 1/4 piece of pecan pie, so be it. ;-)

Perfect way to do it. That's what I did last year and I didn't gain any wieght. I also eat healthy most days so a couple unhealthy days won't disrupt most people's diets.
