"Losing" Weight

Someone commented to me on my weight loss today. However, the way he said it made me think it's time to refer to weight loss in a different way. (He said, "Where's the rest of you?)
I didn't "lose" the weight. That makes it sound unintentional, and that I'll find it again. That's not what I'm doing!
I didn't "drop" the wieght either. I'm not planning to pick it up ever again.
So do you have any suggestions on how to refer to my slimmer waist line? What shall I respond when people say, "It looks like you've lost some weight"?
Thanks,
Dare

I've always said, "I've SHED XX# pounds" and that has worked well for me.0
