Hey MFP's

Anyone have any tips to help get skin to be more healthy, I don't have major problems, but would like to have healthier skin.

All tips welcome!

I drink plenty of water but I need to exfoliate more, and moisturise more, is there anything else I can do to help my skin?

Welcome!

Do you have any problems you want to conquer?

For healthy skin in general best is just to eat healthy and drink lots of water. Unless there's something you are battling with there's not much else you can do.

I guess find a cleanser/skincare routine that your skin likes. That will help too.

I wash my face with honey and use a couple of drops of almond oil as a moisturizer.

At 35, I still regularly get carded and I seldom get pimples since I started.

The best thing I have ever done for my skin is eat well. So one of the things you have to do is figure out if there are foods that your body doesn't agree with. Being gluten and dairy free makes my skin SO NICE and I get a lot of compliments. As for cleansing, I usually wash once a day with Avalon organics vitamin C face wash, pat dry gently, then pure aloe vera gel. Other times I might just splash some water on my face. A couple times a month I might mix a tiny bit of the vitamin C moisturizer with the aloe.

    Good sleep.

Don't wash your face with those so-called "targeting" cleansers. They make more damage than do good.

Use some sort of Vitamin A(Retinoids, retinal, ect)

Stay out of sun as much as you can.
  • i have very oily skin so every morning before i put on make up and at night to take off the make up i use mint scented rubbing alcohol. rubbing alcohol is very bad for your skin unless its oily because it dries out your skin. but it works wonders for me and everyone tells me how pretty my skin is.

also after i use the alcohol i put a little sun screen on under my foundation.

If you have a juicer, try pepper juice. As in Bell Peppers - Green, red, yellow. Mix with some carrot juice or some other vegetable juice to make it more palatable. They are amazing for the complexion.

When I cut out dairy and started eating more fresh fruits and vegetables, my skin cleared up a lot. I used to have REALLY bad skin but now it's almost completely clear. I also make sure I wash my face twice a day and change my pillow case often.

I stopped using lotion and switched over to olive and jojoba oil. My skin loves the change.

I only use QV Gentle Wash on my face and mostly on my body (occassionally use other shower gels).
Mostly talking about everywhere skin, not just my face.
I haven't lost THAT much weight, but enough for me to want to make my skin more 'supple' than it is in some areas

i have started using the vitamin e lotion that is in a round container from bath and body works. this is the best so far for my skin when the weather is cooler. i used to use lancome on a daily basis before but i think this is better.

I use all natural sulphate free body wash ant St Ives Vanilla body lotion. I try and use as much natural and biodegradeable stuff as possible. Good for the body, good for the earth! If you're looking for an all over the body exfoliating scrub, I LOVE the Alba sugar scrub (forget the exact name). It's awesome.

I have always had issues with soaps and body wash products. I have found that Aveeno body wash works well, it isn't stinky, leaves me feeling moisturized without feeling like I need to peel off a layer of goop, and doesn't coat the shower with goop either. I also use an olive oil based bar soap on my face. It rinses clean, you feel clean without drying out, and it doesn't react badly with the moisturizer the dermatologist suggested that has retinol in it.

and don't forget to use high factor sunscreen - it's the best anti-aging product.

sunscreen moisturizers, make sure you're moisturizing at night and in the morning -morning with an spf night should be a thicker cream since thats when your skin cells regernate.

my favorite exfoliator is a cotton pad, about atsp of lemon juice and a tsp of sugar all on the pad then splach your face with warm water and scrub gently with that lemon sugar mix! it leaves your skin SOOOOOO amazingly soft. just careful with it, it might cause some irritation for people especially if you have sensitive skin, i dont so it doesnt bother me.

i'm going to try egg masks to tighten skin, but i hear coconut oil mixed with viatmin E is supposed to do WONDERS for your skin, but i would do that at night since thats when you'll get the most benefit, again, while your skin cells are regenerating

baby oil reall moisturizes, best applied when your skin is stilll a little wet, but i have a big bottle of thta with vitamin e in it, it really moisturizes my skin and i apply it all over after a shower, aslo to remove makeup that works excellent that way.

i've ALSO HEARD about body brushing? getting one of those thick bristle brushes and brushing your arms, legs, and stomach area downward, like towards your feet. helps to get the circulation going in your skin and helps to get rid of extra fluid and junk underneath. i'v been telling myself forever to do this, i always forget to.

If you want to stimulate circulation, brushing or rubbing up the body toward the heart is best.
