I was listening to the radio and they had an advertisement for a diet pill, and the company claimed that woman over 40 need to do an hour of cardio a day just to MAINTAIN their weight.
I laughed. Hard.

I heard that the other day during a commercial break while listening to a football game on the radio.

    a true WTF moment.
  • That depends on how you eat. But if you eat a typical SAD diet, it's not far off.

Oh yes! and that is just one of several pill pushing ads on the radio that tell you it is impossible to lose weight with just diet and exercise alone. I laugh and get a bit angry at the lies at the same time. I would hate to know how many people get duped in to the lies.

I heard that too. LOL WTF?
  • I think I've heard that before in another commercial. It was for one of those "magic shake" diets.

I am with you on getting mad at the advertisements about magic diet pills/shakes. They basically make people feel bad about who they are and then offer a magic something that can instantly make them all better. That is primarily why I have stopped watching network TV and only watch movies with my son. I have enough issues without advertisers telling me how much of a piece of crap I am, BUT IF I BUY XYZ!!! Effff that. I'm doing it the healthy way, TYVM!

Hello..... let me introduce myself. Like most of you, I'm sure.... My name today is LIVING PROOF that you DO NOT need an hour a day to maintain. I do exercise 5-6 hours a week but I eat back most of my calories and at 46 I'm dropping weight better than ever. It's all about the food choices and enough exercise to keep that metabolism going. The sad thing is....before MFP I might have bought into an ad like that! I'm with all of you who say WTF!

If they started advertising dog vomit as a weightloss shake, some poor sucker would order a six month supply.
