I would as long as I could be sure to have insurance to cover surgery to fix it.0
-
Definitely. I'd still look good in clothes even if I had loose skin. If I was still overweight, I still wouldn't look good naked or in clothes.0
-
AND NOT ever fix it!0
-
Yup I would! Because overall health is much more important :] And would still look rockin in clothes!0

That's why God allowed Spanx & duct tape to be invented!! :laugh:0

I lost 100 lbs and have some bits of flub and loose skin that I will probably be left with. It does bother me sometimes, but I still think it's worth it. Plus you never know how it's going to be until you try.0

trud72...Just looked at your pictures .....i would be extatic to have come that far ...i am 64 yrs and have 20 kgs to loose ..only been on here for 35 days , and my doc weighs me every 3 weeks . Recently had a reality shock when a specialist couldnt do a medical procedure on me because my bmi was to high for the local hospitals... so i am on 9 month waiting list to go to a public hospital .
My hubby is doing MFP with me ..as we are retired ...the weight crept on when we stopped our b/ dancing .
Happiness is a inside job, i have been told ...Keep up the good work .0 -
This is a very interesting question.
Yes, I would still lose the weight. I think losing in throughout my mid-late 20s, and losing slowly really helped me with this issue. I do have loose skin but not too much - I'm too proud of my accomplishment to let it get me down

I like spandex - Very Comfy0 -
Aw, Trud. :flowerforyou: I hope someday you can fix it, if it makes you feel better. I work with doctors and you never know if there are docs out there who might be willing to donate the service as a kind and charitable write-off. My ex-husband's cancer doctor wrote off $20,000 of our deductible...
If not, thank goodness you will be healthy, and yay for compression and spandex! You are stronger than most just being here and losing weight.0 -
I'd get me soem Bridget Jones Knickers and my size whatever new jeans and go and play with my kids in the park feeling healthy and alive. I'm doing this because at the moment my fat makes me too tired to do those things and I want to live to play with ymy kids.0

loose the weight very slowly i.e not more than 1.5-2 kgs a months. make sure you a have Vitamin C minimum 500mg a day to help skin to regain shape and walk a lot in fresh air and do yoga with massage . over a period of time it help..0

AHHHHH so the census is what i thought!! same as me if you lose loads of weight and have the skin afterwards you would live with it same here so don't worry,i just wondered what everyone else thought too don't worry it does not bother me (i wish my belly would go) but i still have more to lose(one day lol)! i do have a bit of "loosage" but it would not bother me if i was stuck with just a flap of skin lol.i could wear nice tightish jeans(or ANY jeans for that matter)! and tuck it in!
At least i would look good with my clothes on....only hubby to show off naked too and too be honest he's seen me at my worst of being HUGE,of nearly dieing and saggy skin and to be honest he loves the inside not the outside(THANK GOD)!
thanx for answering this weird question and if you don't here from me before MERRY Christmas to you all! (just call me Mrs.Christmas)0 -
You can do many exercises to tone up your skin (some of it).0

I don't know what your insurance situation is but a year or so ago I was offered gastric bypass surgery and my insurance was suppose to cover skin removal afterwards. Even though I decided to lose weight myself, I still plan on having it. I have no idea what the deductible is but I know its the fraction of out of pocket tummy tucks. If you have insurance its worth checking to see if they cover it. If you can prove that it has an impact on the way you live your life, they will most likely cover it. Find the right surgeon to back you on this. Look for one that performs gastric bypass and they will point you in the right direction.
If I didn't have that option of surgery I would still lose weight. There are ways to help tighten your skin but it just takes a longer period of time. I mean, do you think every pregnant woman has a tummy tuck? Nah. It bounces back. You just got to be patient.

My thoughts exactly!0 -
I was once told by an eminent cosmetic surgeon that skin only sags whilst it still has fat underneath it. If you can manage to lose or convert all the fat to muscle then in time the skin will regain some shape. It will still wrinkle but not hang..although it does take time. I think I do tend to believe this..because having looked after people who have lost massive amounts of weight quickly to severe illness..never once have those who became very thin been left with masses of exess skin and infact once they started to gain again to a 'healthy weight' looked to have a skin tone normal for their age as if they'd never been overweight. So perhaps we just need to lose that bit more than we think we need to where those 'sags are concerned'.0

This has been my biggest issue! It may seem vain but it is a giant concern for me. If I put in all this work and still can not have the body I desire, will it be worth it? But the fact of the matter is, if I do my part, the universe will take care of the rest. I will have the body I earn, and I will earn the body I desire. There is always a way. So for my part, I keep hydrated and do dry brushing in the morning. I moisturize and exfoliate everyday and check out Caudalie. They have some AMAZING products. Good luck to you all!!!0
-
YEP. I would. Don't care what I look like naked.0
-
I think this is only a concern if you lose too much too fast. I have lost a significant amount of weight over nearly the last two years and have no saggy floppy skin on my body at all. I hope people don't use this as an excuse not to lose weight, because I used to think the same thing and used it as a reason.0
-
I would, health is just too important!! Who knows someday you may be able to get the extra skin surgically removed, maybe not, but you will still be living a healthier life! Id rather have years added then years taken away0
-
Yes I would. I am considering a tummy tuck next year and am not fully on board with it though because while I can afford to get it done it is an major surgery and I am not sure I want to take the risks involved. You can't abuse your body through obesity and expect it to be perfect when you finally lose the weight. And even if I do decided to do the tummy tuck I will still have excess skin on my thighs and upper arms. Since the scars on those areas would be visible I decided not even consider surgery to fix the skin there.0

I seem to be with the majority...I would (AM!) doing it too. I actually lost 100 pounds with gastric bypass 8 years ago and promptly gained half of that back. Now I am 1/4 of the way to my goal doing it the right way and fixing my whole life.
I asked my doctor at the last appointment if there is anything I can do to help my skin go back...he said no, I was too heavy for too long (15 years). I work out to feel better and be stronger, and I am losing the weight to be healthy...wearing a bikini is just out forever. Oh well! I would rather carry around a deflated water balloon than a full one...no matter what it looks like under my shirt.0
