Detox and Cleanse..?

I am considering doing a total body detox/cleanse to jump start my diet. Any thoughts or opinions on this? Any advice on which one I should use?

  • I think this a fantastic idea, and have wanted to do it myself =) Unfortunately, I haven't the first idea on how to achieve it! I'll be watching in case you find out! Good Luck, excellent idea.

I am currently doing Advocares 24 day challange. the first 10 days are the clense phase, the last 14 are the trim phase. It a real easy program to follow and they pretty much hold you hand through it. I bought Advocare though a guy I work with so its super easy just to walk to his office to ask questions, but all the anwsers can be found on advocare.com

Plenty of docs saying they have no benefit, and could be dangerous.

"The best way to "detox" the body is simply to let your body do its job. Unless you have a medical problem, your body takes care of itself quite nicely, experts say.

"The liver and kidneys are nature's best-kept secret, because they are the weapons to eliminate toxins from your body," says Gerbstadt. "If you are concerned about certain substances in your diet, it is easier and safer to simply eliminate [those substances] rather than engage in unhealthy detox plans."

But, what do doctors know, right?

But it couldn't hurt to add some lovely peppermint and nettle tea to your diet either. I would also recommend milk thistle (especially if it's alcohol consumption that's made you want to detox!)
  • Please stop with those archaic pseudo beliefs and your wallet will say thanks ;)

    An interesting article:

    @ EIExGordo I couldn't agree with you more :-)
Started eating healthy food in September and quit smoking 2 weeks ago. There are many toxins my body has to get rid of plus the high cholesterol in my blood.
A healthy diet with fruit and veg, fibre and the "good" fats, with all vitamins and minerals is all support our body needs to detox properly.
I drink 2 cups of nettle tea and 1 cup of green tea every day and gallons of water to help my body get rid of all the toxins.
    Good luck

Detoxing is what your liver and kidneys are for. Your liver and kidneys in working order? Then you're all set.
