..get over the fact that it is really bothering me that nobody has commented on my weight loss. I've lost about 22 lbs thus far, but only two people have made comments about me looking different.
Of course I know its harder for people who are around you all the time to tell, but people I haven't seen for weeks don't even say anything.
It's really starting to bother and discourage me. :indifferent:
Help? :brokenheart:

Maybe they've noticed but are afraid to say anything. Some people might feel that if you haven't it would make you feel bad. You know like the person that thinks the lady is pregnant but doesn't want to ask for fear of embarrasment. Just a thought. Good job, even if I can't see you. That's great!!!:bigsmile:0

I'd start taking a picture of yourself once a month to track your progress. That way, the most important person in your weight loss journey would see exactly how much is being lost-YOU:happy: . 22 pounds is an awesome amount of weight, and you shouldn't get discouraged-be proud!!! And eventually, people are bound to continue noticing-especially when you start buying all your "new hotter you" clothes.
Keep your chin up, and things will keep getting better.

First of all, congratulations on 22 lbs!! That's awesome. There's so many threads and topics. I think perhaps that's the reason, so much everyone are sharing with all.
What about including a ticker in your signature?? That way, you can share with others instantly of your goals and progress.
Have you tried posting your successes in the Success Section. I find that section if you post a thread. It's very encouraging in this section.
Good luck and keep on your next 22 lbs.
By the way, you're doing all this for you right? And no one else. Just because not as many noticed or got around to congratulate you does not diminish your accomplishment, one bit!!! Keep going and on to your loss of 25 mark!!! And pat yourself on the back!!Give yourself a standing ovation!!
Like I said, create a beautiful ticker and post it in the Success Section.0 -

Heal has shared some very important and kind comments:flowerforyou: I'm sorry folks haven't commented but to give you abit of my experience, not many have comments on my weighloss off of the boards either! :noway: :ohwell: :blushing: Oh well, it does get a bit confusing in my head as I see I can wear such smaller clothes, the numbers are much lower on the scale and the tape measure, BUT I am not doing it for anyone but me.
I think there were some good comments made above that sometimes folks don't feel comfy mentioning weight, as some folks losing it wish to do it silently and not have a big fuss made over them, so sometimes it's simply not brought up by co-workers, friends etc..
I think the more we have to lose the longer it will take for others to notice, just the way it is I believe at least in my experienc. I think if we allow that to get to us to much it might just hinder our success on our journey.:flowerforyou:
It's only more recently that folks (offline) have said, OMG you've really lost weight, perhaps they have so much on their own plates at this stage of the economy etc. that seeing another person clearly is not something we focus on as much?
When I've mentioned to someone in excitement how WOW, you've really lost weight, you're looking so healthy! Well, I get looks of embarressment and that dear in the headlight eye look. LOL So I think folks don't mean to not notice they perhaps feel uncomfortable mentioning it.
Especially if we've been one to lose and gain and lose and gain, saying something might make the other feel awkward.
I think Heal has suggested a great idea of making yourself a ticker here online so you can watch your progress and others can see it as well.
Some members have no support at all offline, so they come here to share and receive support.
What's most important to me is the healthy changes I'm making and realizing this time they are for me, and noone else! Perhaps that's why this time I have been much more successful.

here is the sad and lonely truth: people don't pay attention. Sure, you always have that one (or two in your case) person who notices right away, but you have to lose something like 25-30% of your total weight-loss goal for people to really start noticing. They say that YOU will notice a difference at 10% (for me, that's just shy of 10lbs and I did notice a difference when I hit that goal).
I started losing when I came overseas for grad school. I had lost 15lbs when I went home for Christmas and my mother was the only person to say something. That's 18% of my total goal... So I know how you feel. The thing about it is this: you and I had a very tall mountain to climb when we started this journey, and while encouragement along the way is essential (don't know what I would do without my mom), the mountain is only surmountable by you and me (respectively) You are on this journey to feel better, live longer, and have a happier life. People commenting on your appearance must become secondary to that.
GOOD JOB! Keep up the amazing work and I assure you, people WILL start to notice a huge difference... and only part of that difference is your physical appearance. :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou:0 -
My dentist said this to me after I'd lost a whole 'nother self worth of weight:
"How *are* you? I can tell you've lost some weight and I was worried you've been sick."
Unh! LOL! But seriously, sometimes people are afraid there's a health problem causing weightloss and maybe they're trying to avoid an awkward conversation. ??0 -
Don't be discouraged ... a couple of years ago I dropped about 30 pounds before anyone said anything ... and then they started complimenting me so much that I got overconfident and started eating the wrong stuff again. I kinda like having a secret (that I get to share on MFP!)
I think you look fabulous though, and I am certain if I saw you every day I'd know you'd lost weight!0 -
I would just not worry about it, I mean after all are you doing this for other people or are you doing it for yourself?0
-
You know, even if no one says anything, I think everyone can agree that losing 22 lbs is a HUGE accomplishment and obviously *you* know there's a difference in your body. So be proud of yourself and walk around like you've lost that much weight! With confidence. I bet people will notice then!0

Most people feel uncomfortable bringing up weight at all, even if it is to give you a compliment. Be thankful that anyone said anything to you at all, Apart from times I bring it up, nobody really comments on my losses... and they are pretty obvious.:flowerforyou:0

Are you able to share your weight loss goals with them? The teachers I work with know I am working on my weight and they ask how I'm doing. At my weight it will take a lot of weight to see a big enough difference to comment on. If you feel comfortable enough share your success with them and they will then know you are open to comments and praise. Be careful though because depending on your coworkers, that will also open you up to criticism and they may watch what you eat and you may find yourself disliking their comments. I am lucky because my whole group is trying to eat healthier and they are so supportive and even encourage me through the bad days. Hang in there they will see eventually!:flowerforyou:

Amy is right, if they know you are working to lose, it is more likely they will bring it up. If they don't know, they probably won't. And it become more and more noticeable (duh) the more that comes off. the consensus is, at about 30 lbs it becomes impossible for anyone not to notice.
Hang in there, and keep up the good work!0 -
First off, congratulations on your weight loss!! What an accomplishment!! You should be bery proud of yourself!! For me, people didn't start noticing or making comments until I lost about 30-35 pounds. Of course, it was hard for people to notice because I am a nurse and the scrubs are just oh so flattering to the figure!!
Are you still wearing the same size clothes? Try wearing more curve hugging clothes, then I am sure more people will comment. People who are overweight tend to wear clothes too big for themselves to begin with because of your size. Show off your weight loss girl!! Be proud!!:flowerforyou:0 -
Congrats on the 22 lbs. Don't be discourage the important thing is that you know!!! Keep up the good work0

I agree with weesel, it wasn't until I started wearing more form fitting clothes that people started to say something.Congrats on your weight loss so far, 22 pounds is awesome!0
