Not one, but TWO NSV's yesterday!

I have been a little frustrated with the speed of my weight loss. I know it is my fault because I have days at a time when I get off track and the scale reflect that pretty accurately. HOWEVER, I had two great NSV's yesterday and am still riding high.

First, my almost-16 year old daughter and her best friend to the Y with me yesterday (no small victory in itself!) and they actually stuck around to work out with me. We did alternating running and abs/legs and they both had a hard time keeping up with me at the running. Wait, that is still not the NSV! On the way home somehow it came up that I was wearing a new workout shirt and I asked her if she liked it, or if I should wait a few weeks before I wear it again. Here is what I heard. "No mom, you look great! You are looking really small. Me and Bailee (the friend) were talking about it when you were running and we were sitting that you are looking thin and your waist is getting much smaller. I told her you go the Y like 6 days a week and sometimes do two classes with the elliptical before or after and she said she can tell and that it takes a lot of commitment to do that. I think I need to go with you more." Do you know how hard it is to get a civil word out of a teenaged girl? Much less that speech?!?

Second, that inspired me to come home and measure. It had been a month since the last time so I figured I was due. Here is what I found: Thighs-1/2 inch down for a total of 1.5 inches lost
Wasit-1 inch down for a total of 2 inches
Hips-1.5 inches down for a total of 2.2 inches.

Thank heavens for the tape measure! One day the scale will catch up with me but until then, I am loving today!

Congratulations!! I know exactly what you mean about teenagers. I have a 17 year old daugher and I'm always telling her about a personal best on a run or distance and all I get is "thats good mom" with not much enthusiasm.
