I'm a fitness loser!

Yeah, I look at all the success stories on this forum every day and relish in the before and afters. I think it's awesome. I, on the other hand don't have such a marked difference because I only lost about 15 lbs. I've always stayed within a certain range of weight and I don't think I put in as much effort to lose the weight as others did.

So, here's my dilemma...I really should exercise but it doesn't make that much of a differnce so I sit here and don't. What the heck? I know I should for health reasons, but that doesn't even nudge me. I've had the Jillian Michaels DVD and weights sitting in my entryway for a month. I have a big gym in the basement! What gives with me?!!! I know I could have a better physique so why am I content with "what is?" Ugh!! Maybe it's in my genes. No one in my family exercises either but there's never been weight problems...

So, that's why I admire those who lost more weight. I don't even know how to say this but you know what I mean? I think the effort is much more appreciated.

Do I need to hear some magic words or am I just a fitness loser?!!!

You'll have more energy if you add exercise into your day. Maybe what's missing from your exercise regimen is the social aspect. I too have an unused gym in my basement. I found that walking with a friend and joining Curves has increased the likelihood that I will actually do some exercise in a day. I feel so much more alive now!

You're definitely NOT a fitness loser! You're lacking motivation. Are there any other forms of exercise that you like to do (ie walking, running, biking, etc)?

Feel free to add me as a friend to help with motivation...we can ALL use it!

You are definitely not a loser you've just got to dig deep now find the willpower and enthusiasm to carry on. We all go through the low points even I have, but with the support of my friends on MFP you will succeed.
Add me as friend if you feel you want to.

What works for me is setting targets and measuring myself against myself.

Cardio I am trying to get back to being able to run 5 miles in 50 mins. On Last attempt managed 28 mins at 10 minute mile pace, then had to walk 2 mins at 6.5K then ran 9 mins more then another 2 min walk and finished off the 50 min running. Next time I want to better that.

Weights - I aim for 3 sets of 12 reps at a given exercise, once this is achieved, up the weights. Each session should better the session of the same type preceding it etc etc

If it's not something you are commited to forever then it will not work. I find eating healthier works for me. :drinker:

For me, I REALLY hated exercise. It's always been that way since I was young. While the other kids my age were playing tag at the playground, I'd be sitting and reading a book (I still am a bookworm! hehe.. =x)

When I gained weight after hitting puberty (14 years, 75kg) I got so self-conscious and decided that I HAD to do some form of exercise. Because I absolutely DETESTED exercise, the best I could manage was doing stretching every night before I slept. I didn't expect any results from that since it was just a baby step towards making me feel better about exercise.. But what do you know? I've lost 8kg (17.6lbs) so far from last year from daily stretching and watching what I ate.

:) Now because I've lost some weight and I feel better about my body, I feel more inclined to exercise. Think of it this way, exercising is a means of taking care of your body. It's like showing affection to your own body :D

    Hope that inspired you! Hehe..
