Pain Question

I usually try to walk about 2 to 3 miles on my lunch hour and I noticed I will be walking for about 15 to 30 mins and I start to get this pain on the side of my ankle. It's so bad it's hard to walk and I have to stop. It feels like a burning pain feeling. I thought it was my Nike shocs that I was wearing. So I went out and bought Nike walking shoes with high arch insoles. They are super comfortable but I am still getting that pain. It's very discouraging and frustrating to me. Does anyone else have this problem?

I would first recommend getting checked out by someone who really knows shoes. Running stores can fit you with shoes that are right for your feet, because sneakers are not one-size-fits-all like we imagine them to be. If that doesn't fix it, go see a doctor and see if something is going on with that ankle.

    Good luck!
  • I guess my first question is have you ever had an ankle injury? Is there arthritis in your family or any other medical conditions? If it has gone on for a while and is not getting better I would see an orthopaedic specialist. I had fallen once and was told my ankle was sprained (he refused me an x-ray). Ended up I had broken a bone and it was a year later I saw another doctor and spent over 20 years dealing with a deterorating ankle.

I agree - not all doctors are careful in evaluating/examining an injury. I would recommend seeing a dr. right away before you do more permanent damage.

you should have it checked right away. A doctor will likely give you medicine for pain... so Id highly recommend a chiropractor, which will be able to fix the trouble :) Ive had similar issues fixed this way. Oh man... my shoulder too.. I though I had some serious damage, but the chiropractor has been working on the pectoral muscle that runs into my armpit and into the shoulder and it has help immensely. Im almost healed up, when I was to the point I couldnt even use my arm to help turn the steering wheel or pour a glass of milk! im almost totally healed up now YAY. you shouldnt keep up the walking until you have it checked out. Your body is telling you that something is wrong.
