Excersize Energy: What to do with it?

I have always had anxiety and sleep issues but when I excersize It increases. I started upping the intensity of my workouts for a couple of weeks now and have found I need to back off a bit. The excess energy and fidgeting was getting pretty extreme and I cannot fall asleep for the life of me. I have tried some meditation and guided hypnosis to help me with this...but it just doesn't do a thing!

Do other people have problems like this or am I just a freak of nature? If you do.... What are some of the strategies you use to cope with such a problem!!!
Thanks,

  • What time of day do you work out? I find if I work out in the morning I am dead tired by night time, but if I work out closer to bedtime I can't sleep!
Hope you get some good advice and get some good sleep soon :)

I exercise in the mornings - it sets me up for the day the latest I exercise is about 2pm - if I exercise later it interferes with my sleep patterns too (not that I am exercising much at the moment due to pain)

If I work out in the evening (after I get out of work) I have so much energy when its time to go to bed I also have a hard time falling asleep. If I work on during the day (on my lunch hour) my body has enough time to slow down before I go to bed and I find it very easy to fall asleep. For MYSELF, its that adrenalin rush that keeps me awake if I work out in the evening.

I work out as early as possible.... usually between 6 and 9 am. And I have no caffiene in my life! Am at my wits end
  • My dad has some sleep promoting tea that really helps him, I will ask him about it when I see him next :)
I have to be honest, I usually have the opposite problem...I sleep too much! I don't want to! I'm learning how to be a morning person again so I can get things done. Let's trade for a week!

When I can't sleep it's usually due to my brain just being "ON". Benedryl works for me or Nyquil.
