Tip for tracking fruits and vegetable servings in diary

I've been enjoying MFP but, as my focus is long-term health and not really weight loss, I wanted a way to help assure a balanced and healthy diet. Yesterday I tried something new in my food diary.

1) I changed the normal "breakfast", "lunch", and "dinner" categories to "vegetables", "fruits", "grains", etc.

2) I included the number of servings I would like to eat each day.

3) For those recipes that are difficult to break down into categories I just put into "other" because if logging is too hard I won't do it.

I'm really happy with the result! My food diary is public so check it out (starting yesterday) to see if it is something that might work for you. I'd love any feedback you have.

I think that is a great idea.. Right now I am just watching my numbers, so not really attempting to be too 'healthy', just staying with in my calorie goal.. but eventually I will and I might give this a go.. The only thing about it that I don't like is that my previous days would all look funny... ie, eggs would show up as vegetables.. which was previously breakfast.

I like that idea a lot! My diary has been building up for almost a year though, so I don't want to massively reshape it at this point. But I kind of wish I'd thought of this from the start, lol.

I'm also more concerned about overall nutrition rather than just calories - a lesson learned the hard way by cutting calories too hard for too long and suffering the consequences health-wise. Nutrition makes a big difference!
