I'm love swimming so I started taking aquatic fitness classes...
I am taking an H2O deep end fitness class now. Basically you have a water horse you straddle and do laps in running motions or kickboxing motions etc.
I also took an aquatic zumba class prior to this - but did not see any results.
In short - is aquatic fitness a good way to lose weight?

Yes!! I take water aerobics 3 times per week and I swim for generally 1/2 hour to 45 mins after class. I have lost 66.5 pounds since the beginning of this year. I attribute a lot of that to a change in eating habits of course, but swimming and water aerobics is SO good for you because you're basically working your entire body at once. It's also excellent for endurance.0

I attend a fast paced water aerobics class every week. I am not sure of the difference as I swim and work out a lot but I know I burn about 250-300 cals so it has to be doing something. I also hurt after so it defo tones me up.0 -
I took the water zumba and didn't really care for it, didn't feel like I really got a work out. I've only done it twice, and I'll probably try it again.
I take several Water Aerobics classes. I definitely lost weight doing them. I'm not sure how the class you're taking works, but the ones I usually take are in chest-high water, and we do things like jogging and jumping jacks and a lot of cardio, with some toning exersizes added in. I enjoy it and I definitely feel it when I'm done. It's very low impact, and I have problems with my feet, so it's one of my best options.
Let me know what you think.0 -
Okay I will give it more time. I know swimming is great but swimming laps can get boring. I think there is not enough movement in the classes I was taking. I do notice that my arms are tired at the end which will hopefully mean I will see some results at the end of this.

I lost some good weight over the summer just by hanging in my parents small inground pool with my family about 3 times a week last summer...that and walking once or twice a week were the only real "exercise" I got, and since I couldn't really swim laps I sometimes did other types of aquatic aerobics or simply just treading water, doing sit-ups/push-ups on the side, etc.
Now I am swimming laps once a week, taking Zumba once a week, etc. at a wellness center and I am hoping to see results.
Good Luck!0 -
